The bandaged enemies, Gibdos, die really quickly if you use the fire rod :)

I can't tell you how much Bombos saved me in this dungeon. It really makes many of the challenges go from rip your hair out angering to downright laughably easy.

I use the Golden Bee for this boss most of the time, after that there's only one or two more hits left on it. (The Golden Bee is found by running into the statue in the cavern adjacent to where the ice rod is found.  It's quite handy, and will return there after being used.)
