  • @markab69.... Lmao! Damn buddy thanks for the English /grammar lesson but as for your comment about ( as you gain experience) 2 words for ya bud...

    MASTER PLUMBER!!

  • BFR is worthless. It's just as expensive if not more expensive than most of the big box stores. And, their website is comparable to my 8th grade Geocities build-your-own website computer class assignment. I just spent about 15 minutes looking around on their website, and because of this, the rest of my day is ruined!

  • So these won't work with regular PVC?

  • BFRfittings are now available in North America and globally certification is the same as sharkbite but 50% off the price, contact them you will be happy with the quality

  • Used these alot and had no issue, Just have to make sure your pipe is square and all burs are removed. Cost me 100 bucks to replace my pipes in the bathroom , A certified union plumber quoted me 600. Took me one afternoon. No leaksm no mess.

  • Garbage o-ring construction prone to failure......

  • I used these to run a yard hydrant out to my pool and I had mixed results. If you remove PEX from the Sharkbite and try to square up the tubing again, when you, at least when I, reinserted the tubing, I had a small leak. I dunno if I damaged the o-ring or what but I ended up buying a crimp tool after several failed attempts. The Sharkbite looked too good to be true for me, and it was. BTW, I am not a plumber and I may not be able to cut a square cut. YMMV.

  • People call a plumber shark bites are killing the industry and trust me I've been in the plumbing industry for 20 yrs an shark bites are just something that will eventually will be discontinued for defects an will have a class action suit on them I've seem things like this come an go an for the guy commenting on here trying to give plumbing advise sir with all do respect it's a COUPLING not a coupler stupid home owner!!!!!

  • @Hucklebillyjones he's not stupid, YOU ARE! Just because he doesn't know everything about plumbing, I bet you don't know everything about my line of work or his for that matter, that's why people specialize. I just installed my hot water heater in an hour for $25, not the nearly $270 it was going to cost with a plumber. We'll see how it holds up, but you can't blame us homeowners for trying to save money.

  • @Hucklebillyjones coupler/coupling? you are the stupid one. I'm in the trade and these are fine. If a guy can do it himself, good for him(or her, lots of handy ladies out there too), plenty of work serving the folks who cant or don't want to do it themselves. what kind of crack is "stupid homeowner"? you don't get repeat business and referrals with an attitude like yours. sad, man, just sad...

  • @Hucklebillyjones Part 1. To start with Hucklebilly 'an' is a word which is used in the English language when 'a' can't be used, 'a' can't be used when the word after is a vowel, so you couldn't say "a air conditioning system" it would have to be "an air conditioning system". Read the two sentances back to yourself Huckleberry and see if you can grasp an understanding as to why.

  • @Hucklebillyjones Part 2. Nevertheless I feel the above explanation is a tad far too advanced for someone at your level because you seem to be using a completely incorrect word randomly in sentences, try replacing the word an with and, you'll notice that had you have done that in your comment then it would become more understandable and (note the use of the word 'and' here) you might start to become more confident once you grasp a basic command of your first language.

  • @Hucklebillyjones Part 3. I won't even bother with sentence structuring, apostrophes, commas etc etc as this is far too advanced for someone at your level. By the way coupler is fine, as you gain more experience you'll start to hear this word more often. Have a nice day numbnuts!

  • Oh, crap any idea how I can fix it other than a Ark Welder ?

  • SharkBite fittings will not work with Brass. It only works with copper, pex and cpvc.

  • my house is over 100 years old i got a 5/8 brass pike that needs to be connected to a feed line for a kitchen sink ( nasty Old Pike a professional Plumber could not weld and the compression fitting he used leaks, can a Sharkbite do this? I was told at home depot that brass 5/8 was bigger than copper 5/8. So it would not work. And if so witch "part?" do I get? Thank you.

  • i do repaires for a chaine of restaurants . i,ve used shark bites for the last two years and never had a leak not to mention the time i have saved and tight cornres , where i couldnt use torch. i carry a bunch of 1/2" variety in my box .

  • Sharkbite fittings are relatively new to North America. For quick fixes they are the answer. I have been doing this line of work for over 30 years and they really are slick when it comes to doing work for the average home owner. I, personally, would not do a complete water system using them. The seal between the pipe and the fitting is a thin o-ring .They come in 1/2,3/4 and 1 inch sizes..big thing is MAKE SURE they go on all the way in the fitting. Great short time slolution.

  • Best thing to come out of Australia since Fosters Beer.... I down.. With Down Under.....

  • SO does this fitting not fit to galvinized pipes?

  • @masonbuster no

  • Man...I just put in a water heater....These connectors really made it fast and simple. It's a whole new world man!

  • @GradyWhite2007 I gonna use them for the same tomorrow.

  • It's more like a lamprey fitting if you ask me.

  • made in australia. we export 30 million worth to USA each month.

  • additionally you can easily cap off one half of a line with the rig mentioned below- then open a lowest drain or faucet and duck tape on a wet vac hose to evacuate the line. Lets you solder dry and also under a negative pressure helping suck teh solder in teh joint!

  • Try doing my previous mentioned valve replacent with compression fitting when your flush against a wall! You can actually cap off a gate valve that dont seal 100% and is wet and under pressure in literally seconds. Once againthey = a priceless no brainer. Of course I woundnt do a whole job with them - just the nasty spots!

  • I agree on the ""at first""" pricey thought but once I used one it was actually priceless! Had a gate valve go bad and wanted to replace it with a ball valve so I could do more work down stream. That old bread trick is for the birds. After a few hours of trying to get solder to not pinhole leak I got me a pair of straight couplers. I cut out a 18" section of that line with the ball valve in the middle. Bench soldered it, added 2 straight Sharkbite couplers. Done in only 10 minutes.

  • haha 9 dollars for one

  • very useful
