Nice video man. I've been thinking about getting a 2000 ram with the 5.9 but I'm not sure what kind of gas mileage I'm looking at. What kind of gas mileage are you getting?
@wickedjester9 I have the same truck a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 off road package. Same thing just chrome bumpers. I have 35's on the stock wheels, an intake, exhaust, and super chip programer set on economy and I'm getting 10mpg. I'm looking into slapping on a turbo for better gas millage with 5lbs of boost but, having a hard time finding any one who's put a turbo on one of these trucks? If I could do it over again I would have got a GMC with a duramax. More power, way better gas mileage.
@turfwerks1 ive been trying to find a truck thats good for off roading and the research ive been doing is showing me the dodge rams are the best. you should check oout your gearing because that has a big part in what kind of gas mileage your getting
@wickedjester9 I have 4.10 gears in my ram. came like that stock from the factory with my off road package. Also do you know of any one who's put a turbo on a 5.9 magnum stock with only 5 pounds of boost? I've been wanting to do this but, don't want to piss big cash into this truck. I can do this for like $600 but I'm not going to tear the engine apart and swap pistons and all that. Just looking for better gas mileage first and a little more power is cool but I don't need to win races.
@wickedjester9 yeah I was watching Extreme 4x4 on TV a few months ago and they had a 97 Ram 1500 that they did a bunch of things to in order to improve gas mileage and they got 16 MPG out of it. I want a turbo cause my buddy put one on his Jeep Grand Cherokee with the inline 6 4.0 and that thing gets great gas mileage and has huge pick up. He did it on an all stock motor as well running 8lbs of boost.
did the airgap net a big gain for the truck ? i just cant see myself spending 600 on it! thinking of saving for 4.10 gears instead. check out my vids... the sct tuner made a huge diffrence for my truck
@amermuscle To tell you the truth, it does save you gas, not dramatic or mineute. The only bad thing is that it Hauls ass, it has a slappy throttle response which gives you the bad habit of pealing out or just flooring it. If you can control your foot, then buy it....
@1970jman Yup those are 37x12.5 r17 BFG muds, ill even show you a pic or another video if you still cant belive it, jeje. Maybe I forgot to mention that it does have a spacer or leveling kit.
ok so in this video those are 37" tires or are those smaller, there is noooooo way to fiy 37s on an offroad ram sorry but i also have one and i rub with 35s
@amermuscle , Man it feels awsome! My truck is stock and will spine those 37" BFG's, it saved me more gas. With the Air gap now, the truck doesnt care if its shoes are 37"..Ill keep ya posted..
@krookedKiller13 Well that changes everything, I now have 37" so at what speeds do you want me to measure city MPG and Highway MPG? I will give you an appprox MPG.
