I love the fact that you've posted Firemoth speed runs.
While I loved Mechwarrior 2, I was never actually that good at it. Funny thing is, I found using the Firemoth-D actually made the game significantly easier, even on hard! Time was suddenly no object, and the AI seemed almost comically stymied by a speedy 'mech with MASC. :)
As a kid I used to just flick between the mechs as fast as i could as i thought it sounded funny. How the woman says "JENNER" is still burned into my psyche...
JENNER, FIRE MOTH, JE-, FIR-, JEN-, MAD DO-, JENNER!
I was young when I first played MW2, and while I had a very memorable time playing it, I felt that I was unable to comprehend and appreciate the full depth of the game, as well as the Battletech universe. When I was older, I revisited the series and immersed myself more into the lore and backstory, but only now, thanks to your videos have I been able to fill in a gap in my childhood. It's nice to re-read the situation and aftermath texts, and I'm glad you included them, despite the speedruns.
So I hear that there actually IS a tertiary objective out there but that it's in the middle of nowhere. Now I don't feel so insane for spending hours looking all over the hilly part of the landscape for that thing. XD I even used the cheat that allowed a floating camera thing to look all over the place. Since I own the battlepack AND titanium version, perhaps I should take a second look.
Dear SirxMMPD, why do you do the wireframe view all the time? To me it makes the videos look boring and not watching and doesn't really make me want to watch them.
I am sorry that you do not like the way it looks. However, for lag reasons and for playability, wireframe is the most efficient means of playing the game. I can see at a simple glance the status of what is in front of me. Much better than trying to cycle through the radar targets or manually targeting all the time.
Personally, I don't mind it when you're in battle, as it DOES make it easier to see what's happening in combat, but do wish you turned off Enhance Imaging when just running from place to place.
actually if i remember right the tertiary objective is a dropship way out in BUFU nowhere that you have to destroy. the opposite direction of where the Fmoth and Jenner are. I think... its been forever since i've played.
Well, I remember what you are talking about. I remember running into that myself in the past, but I think that I have only found that in the titanium or battlepack editions of the game.
I have scoured the map from top to bottom with jumpjets and the map view looking at every corner and it is not anywhere to be found.
LOL, thanks for the compliment, but easy no way. :) When I first did the run 3-4 months prior to this one it took me at least 4 hours to get the run down right.
For the third version of this though it took 3 tries; since I had a better idea of where I needed to improve.
Thank you soo much for posting this. I got to see an old game I loved, and I got to see a site that'l allow me to play it again. Mechwarrior 4 isn't the same as Mechwarrior 2 IMO. Even though the graphics are far superior.

Anyway, thank you. Brings back great memories.

I always loved the computer's voice. It's sort of calming.
