i have an 07 cooper s manual with alpina cold air intake and ecu software. adds maybe 15-20hp. i also have a bone stock 2000 tranz am ws6. its 5.7l v8 6 speed manual. they are two very different cars.
the reality is the cooper has no chance against a v8 camaro. that is s v6.
the camaro is a v8 if it was a v6 it would sound different and i couldnt quite tell but I seriously doubt it was an rs even if it was the rs comes with a v8 stock its probably just a stock 305 with a crappy exhaust that obviously needs some tweakin because even a stock camaro with a v6 should at least attempt to keep up that mini better than it did

Really over the bridge with a light turn to the right and he was in my rear mirror. The mini does 0-60 under 7 seconds and the camaro goes under 6 but you can take a chump in a camaro anyday driving a mini.. it does help if there are a few curves though! :)
@theblane2001 Bud's bone stock 2000 Trans Am automatic with the only mod being a K&N drop-in filter did 13.0. Stock Cooper S turbo does 15.0 downhill with a tailwind. There is no way in hell a Cooper S will take out any properly running LS1, so either the car you raced was fucked up, it was a V6 badged as a Z28, or the guy was shifting at 3,000 rpm every gear. I still can't beat my friend's bolt-on '99 T/A 6 speed, and I ran 12.93 pulling the front tires off the ground and trapping 104 mph.

Those body style camaros with the 350 are still slow as my granny's lincoln town car bud. Too big and heavy and come with a slush box for a tranny. Not to mention the terrible suspension and low engine compression. Much work is needed on that car before it is worth fixing up.

It's test power and the ability to apply that power to the road. Your car must be either more powerful or lighter then the other car and you should be a better driver and shift right. Plus it's mad fun. You sound like you've lost a couple of races or have never raced at all. Which is it?
Well depending on what you race, either bracket racing or just plain head to head racing is a huge factor. Head to head racing proves nothing other than who has the biggest wallet to get the most power out of their car. Bracket racing makes actual sense and more heavily relys on the actual driver not just the fact that you have been 20k more $ into your car so it goes faster. And road racing is a far greater test of driver ability than bracket racing. Shifting, car control, taking corners, etc.
I agree it'd not only about straight line performance, but you kids that play too many racing video games get a warped perception.
Straight line racing is what we call REAL world racing. You see someone you wanna race, you do it. When's the last time you had a backroad shut down so you could "prove your driver skill?" It's shit like that that get's people killed.

@JoaquinSerrapio The cooper is very light weight and has 180 HP. Its the weight plus the special gearing that makes it superior.
Now of course it would not beat a viper or vette. It could keep up easy but not win.
but this year camaro only had 225 HP so as you saw in the video it beat it with ease.

That is no Camaro, the new 2009 is a Camaro. Even though the new Camaro looks a bit funny, it still has 420+ hp in it's V8. This little MINI will not stand a chance against the new Camaro. This Camaro, that is show in this video, is a junker and needs to be taken to a wrecking yard and squashed in a car crusher ASAP.

@valereydyachuk screw you buddy. that camaro is probably a stock 305. that camaro doesnt need to be squashed it just needs an engine swap for a real engine. i did it to my 89, woke the car right up. the 350 is the perfect engine for this car, it really was made for it. the 305 is a turkey of an engine, no doubt about it. but saying this car should be squashed, well thats just a little harsh

Those body style camaros with the 350 are still slow as my granny's lincoln town car bud. Too big and heavy and come with a slush box for a tranny. Not to mention the terrible suspension and low engine compression. Much work is needed on that car before it is worth fixing up.

It is around here. In Miami, we mostly just do street and drag strip racing where the most important factor is acceleration. Also, acceleration is what this video is all about. I just stated a fact, that's all.

It's test power and the ability to apply that power to the road. Your car must be either more powerful or lighter then the other car and you should be a better driver and shift right. Plus it's mad fun. You sound like you've lost a couple of races or have never raced at all. Which is it?

Well depending on what you race, either bracket racing or just plain head to head racing is a huge factor. Head to head racing proves nothing other than who has the biggest wallet to get the most power out of their car. Bracket racing makes actual sense and more heavily relys on the actual driver not just the fact that you have been 20k more $ into your car so it goes faster. And road racing is a far greater test of driver ability than bracket racing. Shifting, car control, taking corners, etc.

Straight line racing is what we call REAL world racing. You see someone you wanna race, you do it. When's the last time you had a backroad shut down so you could "prove your driver skill?" It's shit like that that get's people killed.

It's a great classy car and has plenty of pep. It's black and I have custom red racing stripes on the front and the JCW spoiler on the back. It's being sold soon for a 350z.
And yes I realize that if nobody is around what the costs are. I'm not an idiot thanks. Actually your IQ looks a lot like my gas mileage. Have a nice day.
