Thanks for posting. How did Samson Occom help Rev. Wheelock start Dartmouth. This is of interest, as I am related to Rev. Wheelock, and would love to learn more. Blessings this holiday.
@TallFeathers He made a tour of England, meeting famous theologians and others and somehow got Lord Dartmouth to give a lot of money to the school (when it was still in CT I think). My memory is a little hazy on the details, but there's a lot about it in Occom's biography (only one as far as I know)...
Where did you find them? Probably secret, but I'm curious to know more about where they grow around these parts (bogs and swamps I know, but only a few of them here and there...)
yeah- they're just before the big puddle (same spot as the sundews!) on the way up to the summit from the parking spot above Buffam Falls. There's plenty to go around!
Cool! See the comment above for the cranberries- I think they'll be good for another couple weeks unless we get a super hard frost- singing tomorrow in Amherst!
Can't come today (work -_-) but I've been playing the banjo-and-shape-note videos by banjoape (gorgeous) and singing along. One day I'll make it back to the real-live sings. Enjoy the afternoon!
cool!! brother keep 'it up..

@JesusVillaChuy Thanks! It's a bajo sexto. Nothing fancy- a Lonestar Victoria, but I really like the way it plays.

This song reminds me of the sea, of ships, and lighthouses, even though it's about something else, luv it, sounds sad, but it's calming.

Hey Tim,
We had wild cranberries from Pelham Hill! They taste a bit woodier, but so much taster than Ocean Spray (which are pretty damn tasty).
Excellent choice for Advent, and I love the accompaniment.

Basically up in the conservation area around where Btown becomes Pelham.

--oh, never mind about the cranberry question--I see you answer it in the note accompanying the video.

I **love** this song. It's because of you singing this that I first went to shape-note singing! Glad to see you "reissue" it, so to speak.
Where can we find wild cranberries? (or is it secret?)

This is still one of my favorites from Every Sound Below. "Angels the rapture cannot bear" is such a gorgeous string of poetry.
