It's because Waka is actually playing on a Shakuhachi, a Japanese flute that's made from bamboo. The Shakuhachi is has a higher pitch than a normal Flute due to its smaller size as well as it being an end-blown flute. (In other words think of it like playing a recorder).

An instrument in the US that would be closer sounding to the Shakuhachi would actually be a Piccolo instead of a normal Flute.

It plays when Waka saves Ammy's life from Yami's fatal laser beam thingy and is talking about how he led the Celestials onto the Ark of Yamato, but only because he didn't know about the dark forces within. You know...then he's like, "Oh, this brings back memorie of fighting Orochi!" and "Only you can save the world from darkness, Amaturasu!" and then he "dies"? Yeah.

@MomoTrance The sequel actually exists. Is called Ōkamiden: Chiisaki Taiyō, for Nintendo DS. It was released this days, and apparently, for a DS game, is trully amazing. Just on Japanese for now.

First of all, how is Waka kinda gay...? Is it because of his colorful clothing??? lol! (Never mind the fact he chats up Ammy! =P) He is mostly like an angel, according to the game.

And that would make sense, since one of his jobs was protecting the land, and he was like a messenger.

Also, he is not that difficult to battle. Just run like a mother trucker, dodge, knock down the swords he throws, when he falls down, use power slash. And when you can sneak up on him, use regular attacks...

I think the ending to the game was a bit exhilarating though, because it does leave room for a sequel. Heck, I wanted to know about the celestial plain as well! =) lol Ammy in human form would be pretty cool. =D When you think about it, being a god that takes the form of a wolf, why couldn't she take the form of a human, too? It would be interesting...

Clover studios that made the Okami game disappeared after they released Okmai. There will never be a sequel to this great game.

Nuhuh, Capcom bought them out. The person who owns capcom was considering it, but not enough people baught the wii version.

But the came was created by the Clower studio not Capcom. You see it in the original version for PS2. It was then made to fit Wii by Capcom and that's why there are no ending credits because Capcom didn't want to give Clover the honorics. Capcom did not make Okami.

@Guilthas Honestly? I think it should stay as a one-off game. It's precious enough as it is. Some things are better left alone than trying to turn it into the next franchise just because it makes money. Okami is one of those things. It's a touching experience all it's own and should be left that way.

Not necessarily something that much similar, but Japanese people don't share their own culture an instead of get material for their games from other cultures and that's why it would be important to promote similar games that share that culture heritage. Shunning parts of their own culture is mostly because of the Second World War.
