It's sad that's there no space for a proper rock'n'roll band in today's musical landscape of X Factor, bland indie haircut bands and detuned somethingcore 'metal'.
Maybe the Large Hadron Collider when its done unlocking the secrets of the universe can explain to us all why 90s British bands like this weren't the biggest in the world.
oh how i loved this song when i was 14,played the tape to death in my old school walkman on the school bus! :)..love it..i fancied Tony so much! clairexx
This song got such a slamming from the Australian critics when it came out here in 1994. A shame as this was my 2nd favourite song of the year, just pipped to the top by Primal Scream's "Rocks". 1994 was a terrific year for British rock and pop music, which is sadly not currently the case. The Yanks have taken over 90% of the airwaves and the kids don't give a shit as they're too lazy to buy the really good quality stuff out there.
Seen them at Huddersfield in 94 when they opened for R.E.M and they were by far the best band on the bill. All the other bands that day seemed poor in comparison ( The Beautiful South was one ). R.E.M were so bad I left halfway through their set after driving from Liverpool to see them. Terrorvision certainly deserved a lot more succes than they actually acheived.
@stewmadstew they are on at the soundhouse / ash street bolton greater manchester on 23 july 2010 cant remember the web site but will be passing this week and ill get more details for you
nearly fogot about this band. i seen them in wolves.. got a pair of drum sticks and plecstrum from the concert.. they were backing for green day.. both awesome..
About 23 years ago singer Tony Wright came to the advertising agency I worked at for work experience. His last day was interesting! He didn't make it in advertising and suppose he's pretty glad at that, having gone on to bigger and better things. Remember when this came out and couldn't belive my eyes when I saw it was Tony!
Yorkshire bloody rocks!!!!! if all the people in the world camped out in your back garden...would you wright to the queen or grab a tent and join 'em? ....
Bradford's always been a UK racial tension hotspot. Although I'm don't agree with kickin 'them' back to 'oblivion', I can see TVs point having grown up in Bradford.
The 'my gracious' lyric is particularly clever. 'migratious'!
Thanks for the insight, one of my fav songs in the day. only now i work all over the u.k. and understand bradford does it all click. i admit i missed the point the first time round, such an underrated band. Thanks, Dodge
I don't think that's what the song's about - firstly because they're intelligent guys, not prejudiced jerks (they were friends with Skunk Anansie, and see the 'Tequila' video); but because of the 'fabricated stories' lyric, and when Tony sings 'don't subject them all to oblivion'. Plus, what the hell does Jesus have to do with migration?
Yeah, wasn't saying TV are racist, just seems to have a few undertones. It's prob. just about getting hammered (maybe at Leeds festival?) on various substances!?! A lary bunch of lads breaking (others) out from the oldy's old views...Odd lyrics though...Wish I could find Formaldahyde, was my favourite TV album...Looks like they're having a reunion tour in April - ROCKKK!
I looked it up on the windows media player guide...thing: and it says the song is about 'squatter hippies', which would've made a good name for a T.V. covers band.
Sounds bout rite. I remember skiving off to go to castle morton rave @ 17just down the road...good dayzz for a rockin raver...hope the next un's a good un? Grew up in (a) desolation town...Jam 4/with?! TV anyday m8. Tony's art's pretty sexy too...the danc3 remix b-sides always made me laff&groove. Wish I could find the 'fuck u and your tent' t-shirt - got chucked out by the old dear when I was a kid...grr, shoulda washed it myself?! Live & learn, live & 'earn!!
one of the best fucking bands EVER...been into them since rele early 90s [im like 20 now so i was only about 5 at the time!] and i cant WAIT to see them live again in april
Think you should have put Notts as someone thought you mea not fucking awesome. Guess they don't understand the significance of the comma lol. I just got rid of the thumb down anyway.
to make this video they sunk, I think, a camper van, or something van like. They said they ended up freezing cold and ill after the video. I miss Terrorvision :(
EMF have written MANY fine tunes, intelligent, often dark, sometimes light and poppy. Did you know this song is about racism (in Bradford), or are you oblivious?
Thanks for posting this video. It was my second favourite song of 1994 just after Primal Scream's "Rocks". I'm delighted to see that they're still going after all this time. The Australian critics slagged the living shit out of this song when it was first released, unfortunately. Great to hear it again though.
you're a tosser mate, why even bother ignorantly ranting about a band you clearly know fuck-all about and dislike intensely. Leave us to it, TV are the antidote for twats like you. Go get a life and a fucking more open view on music.
was talking to the guy who's comment has disappeared, a basic slag off TV and random praise of the Beatles. Which was fine, i like the Beatles, but it was kinda irrelevant.
