  • An old DJ told me that the singer here was Leon Russell.

  • i just bought an old 1978 ltd and the goofy greats 8 track was in the trunk!!!!

  • wtf

  • I like this version. But for some reason I still think the Dante and the Evergreens version is better. It may be because their vocalist just twists the words around a little more cleverly. But this is still an excellent novelty song by the Hollywood Argyles. Song was a hit for both bands.

  • That song makes me sick

  • Gggggggoooooooooodddddddd !!!!!!!!!£

  • Goofy Greats! Yes! First thing I ever ordered from a TV ad, my brother and I split the cost. Can't find a copy of it for love or money, but thank God all the songs are on youtube!

  • I remember my mom buying me a copy of this song on a pressed 45 for my little record player back in the early 70's I got for Christmas. Me and my siblings loved this song as little kids! Thanks for posting!

  • My mom had this song on an old album and we used to listen to it growing up. It's been on a CD I play for my twin 9 year old daughters since they were babies. They love it, along with the Beatles and the Monkees :)

    Is a great song, though.

  • What about Intelligent Designers who agree with evolution?

  • I am an agnostic.

Before I was an agnostic, I was an theistic evolutionist. I still am, some days. I cannot say I am one way or the other :P

  • Oh so, so you kinda leave it at 50/50? That makes life a whole lot more simpler, lol.

  • Well there really is no way to be sure on this plane of existence, so I am willing to be undecided.

"It is okay to reserve judgement until all the evidence is in." ~ Carl Sagan

  • Has anybody seen an 'Alley Oop' comic strip in the last 30 years?! Not me! And what was the name of Alley's trusty brontosaur?!

  • I bet you could find it on-line. Somebody out there knows. Google it.

  • You're right. I'm gonna check it out on Google. Thanks!

  • Alley Oop's dinosaur's name was Dinny...Dinny the Dinosaur.

  • According to a website I read, it's still around today after 76 years. Hipsville, man!

  • The guy singing the lead is Dallas Frazier. He wrote the song and formed a group known as Hollywoood Argyles. Actually it was just Dallas and a couple of his friends. After the song was so popular they toured for a while. The Argyles didn't record anything else. Dallas was a prolific writer who wrote a number of hits for others. He wrote Elvira which was recorded by himself and others but when The Oak Ridge Boys recorded it, it became a #1 hit.
