I like this version. But for some reason I still think the Dante and the Evergreens version is better. It may be because their vocalist just twists the words around a little more cleverly. But this is still an excellent novelty song by the Hollywood Argyles. Song was a hit for both bands.

The guy singing the lead is Dallas Frazier. He wrote the song and formed a group known as Hollywoood Argyles. Actually it was just Dallas and a couple of his friends. After the song was so popular they toured for a while. The Argyles didn't record anything else. Dallas was a prolific writer who wrote a number of hits for others. He wrote Elvira which was recorded by himself and others but when The Oak Ridge Boys recorded it, it became a #1 hit.
