  • sign on 1up is "run" and the other is the "extra life if you catch me" one

  • the signpost from when you kill the goomba is the "spawn coin" sign

  • I saw a signpost at the level select screen peering out from behind the Mario head thing that says course 1 on it

  • Are there any invisible objects for red coins? Or maybe the grate over the cannon in the yard of the castle?

  • @tatertot64 I don't think so

  • @ClubPenguinVsRS

    Yeah, probably.

  • Stopp at 1:22 and make audio translate then:

we've up playstation two wont talk XDD

  • I would imagine the 2 sun sign posts just relate to 2 variables that have to be marked at true, is mario standing near the centre of the floor marker, yes, simultaneously is he looking at the second marker on the ceiling, yes.. In that case load and spawn him in this separate cell, if one is true and one false nothing happens. Ie. U can look at the ceiling marker whilst standing near the door to bob-bombs battlefield but u are not warped to the separate level cell as both conditions have not be

  • @Danfitz2010 Yes I think that's very likely the case.

  • maybe theres a sign post when you destroy the chain chop or that pacman imposter

  • theres two because you look at the sun while standing on the symbol, and when you come back, you come from the ceiling

  • can you make a code that makes enemies look like coins, PLEASE, that would be funny to see on youtube.

  • @AlexiaArianaJB123456 If I could find a way to make them spin then yes

  • @yoshielectron you could try to use the behavior of the money bag enemys that pretend to be coins.

  • wow, I though that those sign posts just gave handy information, good munition and nice to destroy, but they give me coins and 1-ups too! I've way more respect for them

  • it's vids like this one that make me realize that i took these games for granted as a kid. there's an ingenious system of codes behind them. just a bunch of if and when codes.

    nice video sir.

  • did u ever find out what the sign post at 4:29 was for?

  • @stephengarrett1 One on them helps activate the 1-up

  • Comment removed

  • Hey if you have live for the xbox360 we should play together sometime.

  • @LosDth Unfortunately I don't

  • using this i found a red block in the lava waterfall in the volcano in lethal lava land!

  • @shinykyogre301 Are you able to take a screenshot of it?

  • @yoshielectron y do knot u?

  • This I find interesting. I think this gives you an insight into how Nintendo actually programmed the game.

  • which section is the code i want it really bad

  • @SuperYoshi419 Misc. Just Ctrl+F See the invisible objects

  • I think the other sign post on the sun is the exit of the secret slide

  • There's a sign post in the file select screen!

  • My opinion is that the sign marks where coins spawn from and in the case of the bob-ombs, where the enemies respawn

  • @hikarinoryu That sounds right.

  • I think the 2 signs on the sun is that one is for if you have so many stars(because if you try it with say 2 stars it won't work)

  • can you make me a code were you hold down the atack buton to bild up power

  • I think that would be hard to do as a code.

  • @yoshielectron well you could make the code by using the button program and the code should make mario go further the more charge and if mario's charged enough he will destroy any enemy in his way.

  • Button activators are better for single actions.

  • i figured it out, on the double signposted mushroom, one is for movment and another is a 1up function with a timer, because it "burns out"

  • That would all be handled by the 1 object so it must be something else.

  • the sign that appears after you kill the goombas may be telling the game where to place the coin that appears.

  • hummmmmm HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • SIGNPOST ATTACK!!!

  • the signpost where the goombas is is for a group of three goombas i learned it from TT64

  • 2 sign posts on runaway mushrooms? i think one is for movement

  • the 2nd is for geting a life(TEH XD I MEAN I MORE LIFE)

  • anyone see the signpost when he was selecting bomb omb battlefield?

  • What's your devart user? (I noticed you said you had one) I'll add you under the name of Doomisyourfuture.

  • It's yoshielectron, same as my YouTube username.

  • lol signposts everywhere

  • Comment removed

  • The signposts after deaths might be coin spawners?

    I dunno.

  • This is cool, can you choose anything to go in place of the invisible objects or just signposts? Like... could you put an enemy where the signposts are... lmao: Super Mario 64 OMGWTFBBQ!

  • You could have something else but it needs to be available in all levels.

  • this code could maybe help find luigi in SM64 if he was really possibly in it.

  • Maybe the signpost at 1:40 Is the coin Spawner?

  • That's weird with the signpost but very cool!

  • There's two signposts under the ceiling in the castle because:

One of them you'd look at to go to the wing cap level

And the other is a Mario spawn point for when you finish the Secret Slide.

  • i think i know why there is a singpost where the goomba and bob-omb dead, cuz it is where the coin spawned

  • Yoshielectron if you didnt notice, at 1:25

there is a signpost at selecting screen..

    XD

  • I think that handles star select.

  • The goomba turns into a sign post so that mario could touch it without him taking damage. Also, i think that the signposts are simply placeholders.

  • I only used signposts so you can see the hidden objects.

  • Ah, I see, but can you use any other things other than signposts?

  • Yes, but signposts are available in all levels and seemed right as markers.

  • They act as generators and objects. :\

  • i saw a sign before u in to the level fell and under the bridge

  • I know one invis object for mushroom (1-Up) is the sparkles, the other is probably so it chases / flees from mario

  • dont you call these triggers?

  • Yes, a lot of them are triggers.

  • LOL SIGNPOSTS

  • hey i think i know why there are 2 posts in the caslte. ones for mario spawning from a course and ones for looking up at it and teleporting you

  • I think you're right.

  • Great video. I noticed a sign at the "spawn point."

  • the sign post for after you stomp on the goomba is the spawn the coin

  • This code is quite interesting...i used the punch walls for coins and hey appeared as HEARTS!

  • That didn't happen with me.

  • How many times did he say signpost in this vid ffs :P

  • this guys voice reminds me of the guy from waynes world 2

  • lol the guy that hands out the suicide pills if the concert goes bad! That is his voice

  • I know it's cool and all but exept for showing sing posts this code is pointless, isn't it.

  • No, it helps you understand how the game works.

  • Yes, but for a normal player they are quite useless. An I've made every level of this game so... the code is quite pointless.

  • So you know what all the invisible objects do and how they work?

  • Okay Mr. James S. my good friend! That was quite impressive there. I have come out with a theory to why they exist. This is based on coding that I did before. I believe the sign posts were made as markers only they could see but have no other purpose besides marking activation spots.

Basically, what I am saying, is hat there are activation areas and they place in sign posts so that they could see the invisible spots while testing the game out. They could have used any object, but decided to...

  • Yes, but they're not signposts, I could have used any graphics like stars, etc.

  • ... use a sign post because it resembled the most appropriate "marker."

Now, about those two sign posts. There must be multiple (two) activators which do two different this. And those two different activations combined act as one unit alone. But James I am quite impressed with what you have done!

    Cheers, Wafflez!

  • I never said that. But I don't need to, do I? Just because I don't know what one object does doesn't mean that I can't get through the game.

  • I know. But the code isn't to help you get through the game it's to better help us understand how it works so that we can make better codes.

  • And that brings me back to my point: This code is useless for ordinary players!

  • Ok, it's a useless code. Please don't ruin it for the people who appreciate it.

  • I disagree. This code can help even the average user understand more about SM64 just for fun. Like James says: "don't ruin it for the people who appreciate it." :P

  • can u read the signposts?

  • No, they're not actually signposts.

  • but why do they apear as them?

  • So you can see them.

  • why not mushrooms? or a coin?

  • It needs to be a 3D object and one which can be used in all levels.

  • ooohhh..that makes sence....but arent mushrooms 3D and in every level?

  • Which mushrooms do you mean-Goombas?

  • 1-ups

  • 1-ups are 2D.

  • oh... ok then.

  • For the 1-up, probably one of the signposts spawns the sparkles. The other I have no idea, maybe a marker for when Mario touches it, the number of lives increase by 1?

  • Yes but please remember they are not actually signposts.

  • I know, I know. :P It's easier to refer to them as signposts, instead of invisible activators.

  • That's very true but I seemed to have confused others.

  • at 1:26 there's a sign over the word course

  • Yeah, I need to work out what that does.

  • Good one! You have the perfect balance of explination and narraration now. I was wondering what happends if you get the wing cap.

  • A signpost (invisible object) briefly appears.

  • the reason the signposts only appear for a second when you kill a goomba is because if they stayed it would have to spawn coins indefinately

  • That makes sense.

  • James

    YOU ARE AMAZING

  • It was only something simple but thanks anyway.

  • No i mean with AMAZING all your Codes :)

  • Thanks.

  • You are very awesome

  • Thanks.

  • Here's my guess to when the signpost comes out when you kill an enemy: It's triggering the texture animation that happens when you kill a goomba or other enemy.

  • Nice. This could be really useful. Heh, and there's one behind the course number on the star select screen.

I suppose the sun warp works by having that object's rendering code trigger a warp if Mario is touching the one on the floor.

The Goomba one might just be the Goomba that's been turned into a dummy object instead of immediately deleted for some reason, or the object that spawns the coin.

  • Yeah. It seems Mario has to make contact with the star object and the ceiling object has to be in view to warp.

  • I think that the sign's that come after a goomba dies is a one time coin spawn.

  • Lol as a a computer proggramer i know that thoses signpostes are being used as virtual flags which act as command statment that activate an effect when something is done :P

Even back then Nintendo rules :)

  • lol when i battled king bob-omb he had a signpost in his hand XD

  • That's interesting.

  • I guess its for grabbing mario.

  • I see.

These "invisble objets" are visible from toad tool 64, but they apear to be wireframe boxes insead of signpost

  • I just used sugnpost as I thought it looked right.

  • Really interesting code yoshielectron. I already knew about static invisible objects trough TT64, but it's interesting to see the invisible objects spawned by characters and such.

  • This is something I should have showed ages ago.

  • lol theres a hidden sighn post at 1:25 under the amount of coins u have kl

  • goood job, that was a really good code, so you cant read the signs?

  • No, it's only a graphical change. You can have the signpost show up as any common object such as stars, etc.

  • oh, ok, so you cant really grabv them can you?

  • You can't, all the code does is change their look.

  • ok cool

  • Wow! That was awesome showing the bob-omb spawn.

  • what do the signs say?

  • They aren't signs, they just look like signs so you can see the invisible objects.

  • 5/5

    again!

now i see why i made up my own toad character named after you! i named him

James S. Shroom (because the toads usually are to do with shrooms, so i made his first name James, his Middle name starting with an S, and Shroom as the last name.)

  • Thanks, I'd like to meet him...

  • your welcome =D

pretty much he is toad with stars on his hat instead of dots, and his "coat"(the blue coat toad wears) is white and has stars on it as well. and there he is, i am getting a gameshark soon, so i might be able to make a code of him =D

  • I'd like to see that if you do.

  • hey the signpost from wen u kill a enemie shows were the coin spawns at i think :P

  • it seems like the signpost was a common marker for events that happen in a level

  • They're not actually signposts, it's just so you can see the invisible objects.

  • I really like this code, It's almost like looking behind the scenes of the game... Well done...

  • the mountain

  • 2:50 Mushroom on strike!!!

  • XD yeah XD

  • x3!!

  • You said you didn't know why there were two posts near the "entrance" to Tower of the Wing Cap; I'm pretty sure one of them is where you respawn after completing certain levels e.g. Princess' Secret Slide and the Wing Cap level itself.

  • That sounds right.

  • Comment removed

  • hey, is there a signpost in the mountain teleport

  • Where exactly?

  • i think he means the one of the mini cave of themountain

  • yes actually 2

  • Very interesting. I like looking at N64 games, as they can show you how the games are made. The Nintendo gods are working behind the scenes to aid Mario!

  • lol

  • So much signposts!

  • This is amazing!

  • Wait a second. Great idea! Why not make a code so ALL graphics are changed. :D

  • I did something like that ages ago and people moaned.

  • There are invisible sign posts stationed all over the Super Mario 64 world?!

My life will never be the same again...

  • They're not signposts.

  • What? You said they were in the video, didn't you? Sorry if I'm mistaken though.

  • They only look like signposts.

  • Oh well, you get my point, don't you?

  • Yeah.

  • Wait, does you code show all the invisible objects as the graphics of a signpost? If so, does that mean that your code can be re-arranged to make other object's graphics appear in place of the signpost?

  • Yes, I did play as star (for example) ages ago using this technique.

  • No, I don't think so.....

You see, I think that these signpost are just part of Yoshi's code. If re-arranged in another way, this code might be able to show other object's graphics in place of the signpost. I'm not sure of it....

  • Ohh, ok. That makes it easier to comprehend.

  • That's just my guess.

  • I've already done a code for someone so that invisible objects show up as stars.
