I always thought of Gertrude as more as a demure, weak, awkward bird. It was interesting to see an approach where she was kind of crazy and humorous. It's not how it was supposed to be, but it'd definitely be more interesting to watch!

this kinda makes gertrude feel like she's full of herself, and she's not, she's very shy and awestruck. i'd look at horton more and maybe not act less seductive and more like you're secretly in love with horton and you're finally getting to show him how much you care instead of how much of a hassle it was!!!

this song isn't supposed to be totally serious. i play gertrude in my performing arts academy for the summer and they have me very goofy about it too. this song is supposed to be over the top and funny not serious at all. think about it, shes an awkward bird. of course she'll make it funnier

I know that stage make-up has to be dramatic, I know, I'm in theatre, but I think the red lipstick is a little much, especially for her character.

she has a very nice voice but she was a little bit overdramatic for the role of Gertrude. Gertrude's shy and sweet and timid not as over the top like Mayzie. Also one of the first rules in acting is that you aren't supposed to acknowledge or look at the audience unless it's called for in the script so she ought to have been looking at Horton the entire time other than when she is with the doctor especially seeing as it is a love song TO Horton expressing her feelings to him.

@gnsmgnsm26 I'd like to politely disagree with you. In this song, Gertrude is listing OUTRAGEOUS things she did for Horton, which is why her being dramatic and over the top works. It's kind of like, this whole time Horton has ignored her and here she has this oppurtuntiy to tell him EXACTLY what she's done for him. Of course, shed going to over the top! It's like Gertrude saying, "Ya know what? LOK WHAT IVE DONE FOR YOU,DAMMIT!" But only in a way only Horton's odd litle next door neighbor can.
