Remember Szabo from 1967...heard his album "Caravan" the first time I dropped acid as a 16 y/o runaway in Hollywood. What I always liked about Szabo is the directness of his technique...probably aided by heavy gauge strings.
Wow what an outstanding technician. During the 1st minute or so he even bulids up something "B.B. Kingian". Imagine he 'd explored that throughout. Lol, that wouldn't be easy to do for an East European, but excellent though.
@canada2love Good point about his "BB Kingian" style, but he emigrated to America around the same time that BB King began touring as an blues obscure musician. So, its safe to say that Szabo developed his musical style in America at a time when music when this country was on a creative roll, unrivaled in this world. I think he was a talented musician, who just happened to be from Hungary, and he came to the right place.
