I know there have been cases and I acknowledge them and pray for the victims but most priests follow their vocation.

It does say call no man father, but in a particular context. It makes no sense to call absolutely no man father, and it would just as much sense to use a synonym like dad, what's the difference? the point being made by this verse is that ultimately we all have a heavenly father, who is our ultimate goal. it also says call no man teacher... but we still call people teachers. what God is saying is that he is the ultimate teacher. Paul and Abraham call themselves fathers of their people.

I am not offended by the "church" I am offended by the things man has done in the name of god, as I am sure you are too. I have no problem with inidivual faith- my best friend is Irish Catholic, and I would be the first to defend someone's right to worship as they see fit; however, the Vatican as an insitution has implemented many evils upon the world - the Inquisitions and all the crusades (See Modern Catholic Dictionary). Show me in Scripture where it says that Mary had other children. The Eastern tradition has either cousins or Joseph's other children from a previous marriage.
What difference would it make if he had brothers and sisters as scripture says? It changes nothing Divine in him, it doesn't make Mary less of a virgin when He was born; it doesn't detract from Mary's role in the birth of Christ; it doesn't effect Christ role on earth. It simply means that he had siblings and Mary had other children with Joseph. So what? It changes nothing. There is no proof one way or the other, but this fear you people have about Mary being human is bizarre.
The Bible mentions brothers and sisters of Jesus. The Church has always understood these passages as not referring to other children of the Virgin Mary. In fact James and Joseph, "brothers of Jesus," are the sons of another Mary, a disciple of Christ, whom St. Matthew significantly calls "the other Mary." They are close relations of Jesus, according to an Old Testament expression. I have cousins in the Ukrane they call me their sister, their expression.

@weazie1995 u need to watch things more objectively. Jesus is not the zombie, but society, and he's the rebel trying to free them. Not the "inmature rebelion" but a real one a rebelion of hearts!

I'm not sure why people who are offended by the catholic church watch a video about a catholic priest. Anyway, all debates are more productive when the feedback comes straight from the source(forums of www.catholic.com).

I am not offended by the "church" I am offended by the things man has done in the name of god, as I am sure you are too. I have no problem with inidivual faith- my best friend is Irish Catholic, and I would be the first to defend someone's right to worship as they see fit; however, the Vatican as an insitution has implemented many evils upon the world - the Inquisitions and all the crusades (See Modern Catholic Dictionary). This was an interesting story/video, that's why I watched it. Thanks.

I wondered if the video was real. When informed that it was, I said, "good" - he seems like a nice, decent man and the church is in need of good men as priests, so I say, great! The church does many great works, but history needs to be taught and learned from.

So, in other words, as this priest is telling the story of his vocation, he's supposed to stop at some point and say, oh, and by the way, I always pray and think about the how the Church should continue to repent for its past evils in the Inquisition. Right...

I thought the video, at first view, was joking because the guy looks more like an athlete or an actor; but upon being assured this is a true video, I said I hope he is happy and that he is a good priest as good priests are needed.

No way, I don't kneel before any statute, nor would I belong to any organization that established and paid for the crusades, established and operated the inquisitions, and persecuted the Jews nearly as bad as Hitler had done. No, I would never join an organization that has murdered millions of people in the name of God.

If kneeling before a statue would help you pray and get greater union between you, God and the communion of saints, why would you not kneel? pride? The first crusades were justified, the church inquisition was both fair and effective, and when was there a time that Catholics murdered jews? What millions of people died in the name of the Catholic God? I just don't know to what you're refering.

actually, the greek word used for "brothers" and "sisters" in the Bible also meant cousins. It isn't specific. As well, I happen to know the priest in the video...and while I've really only spoken to him once or twice, I can garauntee you he isn't a porn star. :)

oh, and P.S., Mary had children with Joseph after Jesus was born. Thats why he mentions them at certain gatherings- because they existed and they were there with him.

Show me in Scripture where it says that Mary had other children. The Eastern tradition has either cousins or Joseph's other children from a previous marriage.

What difference would it make if he had brothers and sisters as scripture says? It changes nothing Divine in him, it doesn't make Mary less of a virgin when He was born; it doesn't detract from Mary's role in the birth of Christ; it doesn't effect Christ role on earth. It simply means that he had siblings and Mary had other children with Joseph. So what? It changes nothing. There is no proof one way or the other, but this fear you people have about Mary being human is bizarre.

The Bible mentions brothers and sisters of Jesus. The Church has always understood these passages as not referring to other children of the Virgin Mary. In fact James and Joseph, "brothers of Jesus," are the sons of another Mary, a disciple of Christ, whom St. Matthew significantly calls "the other Mary." They are close relations of Jesus, according to an Old Testament expression. I have cousins in the Ukrane they call me their sister, their expression.

In church, everyone is brother or sister. Proves/ disproves nothing. That Mary & Joseph had kids is likely, unless they hated each other. Resistance to the notion is bizarre, at best. "Traditionally" for 100's years Mary had a burial site (Modern Cath. Dictnry.); New doctrine- Mary didn't die, but was traslated into heaven and was also immaculately conceived! More new doctrine- Mary is mediatrix between man & God, despite bible says ONLY mediator is Jesus.

Mary to kids at Fatima: "suffering pleases our Lord a great deal." Really? I thought Jesus loved the little children and he suffered and died for us, so why would he enjoy watching kids suffer? That's sick. Would Mary be less of the Mother of Jesus had she had other kids? No. Why her immacuate conception? Cuz how else could an unclean vessel (Mary's womb) carry the Son of God? It didn't occur to them God prepared her for that purpose, so they invented new doctrine. Must have shocked her parents.

We are not to call anyone our [spiritual] father, it is obviously not a biological father- we know because of the translations "father" comes from. Plainly, do not give titles to men that belong to God, i.e., "THE MOST Holy Father," as that clearly could only be a reference to GOD. Jesus refused an earthly kingdom, yet we have men who call themselves "princes" and "Papa" bishop- wearing scarlet & purple setting themselves above God.

Is there anything wrong with being called a prince if it's not a title that you seek? or is wrong to where scarlet or purple? and do they really place themselves above God?? The Pope is called the holy father, not the MOST HOLY FATHER. Have you ever heard of father Abraham... how about the patriarchs? Patriarch means father. Sounds like rhetoric rather than valid criticism.

the pope sits on a thrown of gold, people kiss his hand ... Jesus was not even so pompous as to behave in such a way, though he was the Son of God. Yes, it does appear that they set themselves above God, portraying themselves as gods. I understand you do not believe that or see it that way, but walking into that scene with biblical knowledge but no prior indoctrination of Catholicism, it would be very clear.

innappropriate - but it is so odd and rehearsed that I was waiting for him to stip and say he became a porn star or something- it just didn't come across as genuine and I kept thinking it is a joke. Oh well. I am glad he is happy, if it is real.
