Of course there should be competitions. It's the spirit of progress, hard work and achievement. Why should world-class pianists be put on the same pedestal as mediocre musicians? That would be a shame
I know the Park's brother and sister (Jong-Gyung and Jong-Hwa). They studied with same teacher as me. I wonder what they are doing now! I have not been in contact with them for a while.
This is a very good insight into the VanCliburn Competition. Sydney is preparing for its competition in July 08, I highly recommend lovers of piano music to come to Sydney.
