Supermotos are fun as HELL. But to really ride, i would pick the supersports Bike everytime.

No doubt, sumos are definatly faster through turns. But on the street with many straights that doesn't serve you.

Judging by what I've seen at some track days, more riders need to focus on learning to ride a slow bike fast. Too many people with zero skill trying to wrestle a 170+hp monster around a track. Nearly every accomplished racer on the planet starts small and works their way up; somehow the general public thinks they are superior.

@kj7687 I've been riding SS's for 7 years street/track and would be the first to admit that the super moto's are tough to beat in the corners on any Super-Sport. I followed one while I was on the "Tail of the Dragon" (318 curves in 11 miles for those who don't know) and it was very tough to keep up with on my 10R. Any kind of straights though, and it's a completely different story. Your correct to say those remarks would come from "Squids" because they don't know shit.

kinda hard to compare a pure sport track racing bike to a crossover. of course the gsx r 1000 will over take the ktm thats what its desgined for if the gsxr wasnt faster then suzuki needs to get back to the white board. but on a rougher road with sharper turns the ktm would mostn likely have the advantage. compare the rc8 to the gsxr 1000 and then we'll have a race

Even though both riders are good, I think the KTM guy is a better rider. He hit his apexes more often, was able to get on the gas earlier and harder, while the ZX-10 was constantly running it wide. I would love to see a lap with the KTM rider on the ZX-10.

If you want to see a "race" search for "450yzf VS 1000GSXR".

It's essentially 2 guys going for a nice ride on their GSXR's, and some YZF 450 arsehole who keeps trying to cut them off, and take really aggressive lines. When the GSXR's don't even look like they're trying to race. (Side note: They still beat him)

I think these americans really need to take riding lessons. That ZX10 should have been able to pass the dirtbike easily, but in the states, this sort of thing does not surprise me. Most american riders have only ovaries, not testicles. I have seen it many times. They come to my country bragging, but then when push comes to shove, they are all talk and slow action. @JB259r In terms of power, acceleration past 50mph and top speed you are correct. Otherwise you need to rethink your statement as it is flawed. A supermotard will brake, corner and accelerate out of a corner quicker and do it in a very fun and cool fashion! Don't get me wrong I love a good sports bike, they are a hoot! But don't discount the awesomeness of a supermotard! No single bike is the be all and end all, which is why I have three :)

Lol, I did some reading on the 2011 zxr1000 and it does say the bike is the first production bike (in its class) to break the 200hp line, also, when I read further, it says the bik does 184,4hp on the rear wheel, and 202,9hp on the crank.

The ZX10 rider was far better, only very respectful of the other guys road bike. He had to ride it home.

He played with him and had way better lines, could have overtook him in a daring move anyway but it was a fun ridearound.

@tootchw Humbled is kind of a big word imo. The zx-10 stayed on his tail pretty well, only on the real tight ones the ktm got away a bit. It also depends on driving skill. So I wouldn't really feel embarrased if such a nice ktm was a bit faster on the tight turns then my superbike. Especially not if it would have a really skilled rider.

@tootchw I remember a couple of years ago seeing a YZ490 supermotard racing against stock 1000's at winton raceway. Due to large amount of tight corners the 490 was half a lap in front by the end of the race. Road bikes cant competes with dirts bike in the twisties
