  • And the devil tuned it to open G.

  • well done ...

  • Robert Harris is Robert Johnson's great nephew, and certainly a blood relative. Are you people stupid?

  • brother, That was GREAT!

  • Very nice!! As for the "hooded devil", LOL, if you look hard and use your imagination you can see something there. ;) Love the music, love the legend.

  • Good job sir! I shared it on my facebook music page, 'Looking For Lewis and Clark.'

  • Beautiful pictures.

  • nice job

  • Why hasn't Claud Johnson submitted to a DNA test? Claud Johnson did not inherit any musical talent at all. And why did he wait so many years to come forward?

  • @kathyuk28 because his DNA has nothing to be compared to. His grandson, Robert Harris, is not a blood relative.

  • @jrewald2000 Robert Harris is not his grandson. Robert is Carrie Thompson's grandson. Robert Johnson was Carrie'e BROTHER.

  • @kathyuk28 I feel the same about this.

  • Why hasn't Claud Johnson submitted to a DNA test?

  • excellent !!!

  • too bad there's no such thing as a soul XD

  • Excellent. Thanks for uploading this.

  • so..he gave his soul to the devil?

poor guy is in hell right now.

  • @RawrInYawrHeart Yes, and unless everyone repents and trusts in Christ alone they will perish on the day of judgment...

  • Atcually Robert Johnson learn to play guitar from Son House and his buddies. You can hear Son House in his playing style. Son House learned from Charlie Patton.

  • Nice.

  • fuck dis dude straight . sorry for swearing but u mess with satan i dont mess with u

  • very cool! Come check my delta blue tribute vid/song ;)

  • This is great! CHECK OUT MY SON HOUSE/ DELTA BLUES VIDEO/SONG !

  • job very good !!!!!!!!

  • !!!!!!!! trabalho muito bom

  • job very nyce !!!!!!!!

  • Very good!

  • There are the records from a school in Tunica that show that Johnson attended school for several years. And strychnine kills in hours, not days... poor Robert Johnson, so much crap has been said about him that he must be turning in his grave. And here on YT people discuss guitar tabs; nobody uses him as an example for creating something original, personal, heartfelt, real. Judging by contemporary black music (Jay Z, Beyonce', etc..) his influence is nihil. This was nice, thanks for posting it

  • @kidcalabria Strychnine kills in hours...but Robert succumbed to the poison in days? Hmmm. maybe he was given a small dose. Perhaps a couple of drops. A jealous husband would want death for the man who courted his wife to happen in days, not hours. Make him suffer for as long as possible. Just my opinion....

  • @TheTallMan35

You're right. A jelaous husband would have wanted him dead in hours. The prevailing theory is that he was poisoned with arsenic, not strychnine.. there were also complications: apparently he contracted pneumonia while he was sick.. the death certificate says only 'no doctor' as the cause of death.. of course nobody knows for sure. The body should be exhumed and be examined for a toxycology report, but there are doubts even as to where he was buried, as you probably know...

  • I love Johnson!!! To praise him the band Dirty Sound Magnet made a video clip about his life and death. I think he would be proud to see the effects of his music almost 100 years after his death. Check it out

watch?v=FvQoB5j_LmI (Or go directly on my youtube profile :-))

You won't be disapointed. True blues rock still exists

  • He started playing guitar in 1914....age 3?

  • Actually I see images on both sides of him.

This was an excellant piece.Very well done sir!

  • I enjoyed this! Good job :D

  • awesome film man

  • such a nice work, thanks for sharing :-)

  • I have to agree. Good work here.

  • sweet

  • DUDE! I did the same thing last year for senior mythology project. You could pretty much do anything - most kids turned in a 2min movie of their life, I on the other hand made a 10min documentary titled "Robert Johnson: The Story of a Legend, The Legend of a Story."

  • good film....10/10

  • Excellent! Thank you for posting it!

  • Great Stuff!!!

  • 4961 yeahh.

  • good job dude

  • You have done great justice to a brilliant musician, thank you.

  • Great vid. @ 1:09, a hooded devil in the background, on his left.

  • I'm sorry, I don't see it. Thanks for the comment though!

  • It's a shadow, but it's uncanny. @ 1:08, the famous picture.

    Great vid, btw.

  • @JesseV209 the face of the 'demon' is right above the headstock (where you tune a guitar). pretty crazy

  • @bachelorfridays oh thats the demnon eh looks like a curtain though

  • @bachelorfridays i totally see it. wierd. i never noticed that.

  • @muzicsalesman yeah its a fun little coincidence, it would be cool if someone digitally enhanced it to stand out or something..

  • @bachelorfridays Im on it. haha

  • @bachelorfridays i see it u must have a big computer screen

  • @munkyman1992 no I just notice weird shit like that. It's crazy though, right?

  • @bachelorfridays At 1:09 you can see it...

  • @bachelorfridays If you look closely you can see all kinds of faces in the picture at 1:09

  • @bachelorfridays your right. this scared the shit outta me dude!

  • @bachelorfridays I see the hooded devil

  • @bachelorfridays i see it

  • @bachelorfridays

    oh whoa! I see it!

  • Grandeee Robeeert!!

  • Nice work sir.

  • Thank you.

  • good job

  • Glad you liked it.

  • Great job! So interesting! Thanks for posting! 5/5*!

  • I surely do wish I could go back in time and save that young man's life.

I may be the 2nd best blues cross-harpist alive... next to ol' cotten who's still jamin' away up there in that land o' milk and honey....but I will never be the bluesman Robert was. Go easy Robert...go easy brother.

  • I think Robert Johnson maybe a bit scottish. we have a history of storytelling in song, check out the hellhounds on the trail of Tam O'Shanter and the name johnson is certainly scottish, and his guitar sounds pretty much like an adaptation of our vocal music on guitar. not to take anything away from the other parts of his heritage and other influences in his life - for sure you didn't get many scots from the 1930s doin stuff like that! him and robert burns did the best songsever.

  • craigleithdavid. I think you're probably correct. I too come from Scotland and I certainly can imagine

Johnson wearing a kilt and doing the highland fling.

  • Wow, Scotland, eh? Bit of a stretch in my opinion. I read some post somewhere write something like of course African Americans were never in a vacuum, so the music has all sorts of "influences". And, that's what I believe.

But the point of my post is... there is a book by Charles Hamm about American popular song that does make your connection. You may want to check it out, don't remember the title, but i think it came out in around '87

  • A great video,good sound,thanks for this video JesseV209.

Robert Johnson,as a guitarrist and musician he is in a class of her own.

God be with you, rest in peace.

  • Robert LeRoy Johnson is both the father of Stanley Johnson and Frank Marshal Davis.

  • really?

  • love this!

  • I'm glad. Thank you!

  • Its a nice little film, but you left out many intersting facts about Johnson, like his association with Son House and Willie Brown, and some theories about the "crossroads" legend and the Tommy Johnson connection to the crossroads and the devil. Maybe you had a time limit to deal with. so much more to the Robert Johnson story that is fasinating.

  • Thank you for the positive comment. Please subscribe!

  • I really enjoyed this, and learned a few new things about RJ.

Thanks for sharing this with the world. You did a great job putting this together.

  • It sounds slightly..robotic. Cool though. Aww yeah.

  • Why, thank you kindly (I think), mate!

  • That's a strange voice you got there, mate.

  • very good!It gives me a short look into Johnsons (tragically very short) life...

  • Thanks for viewing!

  • r thos pics real????

  • Yeah, I tried to find images that were from that era. Most of these images are from Dorothea Lange (famous photographer of that time).

  • i mean rare they of robert johnson

or jut random african americans haha

  • There are only two known photographs of RJ. A "photobooth" type photograph and the photo used for the album cover (both in this short). I believe this has added a great deal to his mystique.

  • oh ok i didnt no

  • some of the still pictures are

  • 27 stars for that movie it was great

  • Thank you, thank you for your comment!!

  • I can digg it, man.

  • I'm glad...

  • great loved it :)

  • right back at 'cha!

  • Kudos - hearing the urgency in Johnson's voice and watching the film opener- just great.

  • Thank you for your your words.

  • i have to do a music project on him and i think i made a good choice :)

  • Yes, a very good choice!

  • Thank you very much for that. Great, great stuff

  • No, thank you for watching!

  • btw. the begining of this video is sweet. lol i dunno why, but i just like how it was done.

  • yeh the start of the video is a clip from an actual movie! its called 'crossroads' its about willie brown, and robert johnson, its really fukin gr8!!!! try to get it!

  • Exact! The movie starred Ralph Macchio and Jo Seneca (with a young Jami Gertz). Sadly, not a well known classic from the 80s.

  • It's actually a clip from the 1985 film "Crossroads". One of my all time favorite films!

  • yeh ive heard that one. im not sure what to think lol. so many diferent ideas, i think il just stick to the KNOWN fact that he was a brilliant player. beyond brilliant.

  • hey jesse, i read about another version, it was a man named tommy johnson that actually made the deal. then somehow it was changed to roberts story. you ever heard that before? (not the movie o'brother) i googled the crossroads story, thats where i read it...

  • No, I'm sorry but I haven't heard that one before. Thanks for the input though!

  • great job 5 stars!

  • Thanks for your comment, much appreciated!

  • Thank you for the comment, please subscribe!

  • Thank you for commenting!

  • dude thnx for this

  • You're very much welcomed!

  • Hands like that of God, with a style like the Devil.

  • You can say that again!

  • R.J. had some big hands

  • Actually, long and slender fingers and hands.

  • Is he related to hall johnson

  • no he isnt

  • In this legend, yes.

  • The devil a large black man???

  • Did you get a A+ on this?

  • Yes, sir. I did get an A+ for this project. Thank you for your comment!

  • obviously there's alot of mystery surrounding johnson, but the one theory i heard was the bit about him selling his soul at the cross roads. i wonder if jimi, jim, janis, kurt and him really did all sell their souls. something to think about.

  • There was a lot more info I wanted to put in this project (It could be no longer than 5 min.). This was sort of a challenge to produce, being that there are only two known photographs of R. Johnson and very little documentation on his history. But it was fun none the less.

  • Jesse, you did it! Smack dab in the middle of the delta heart. You did a total recall of those times! Thanks soo much.

    StCyrist

  • i love robert johnson's music! this is an awesome video. btw has anyoen realised that the last great rock band, nirvana(now im talking about when the band started cuz theres still u kno, aerosmith and led and wat not) btu the last great rock band;s singer kurt cobain died at 27 and the man who started rock died at 27?

  • jimi hendrix,jim morrison,robert johnson,kurt cobain,janis joplin ALL DEAD BY 27!

  • Yep all dead at 27 and Im not fealing too well either.

  • Very nice.

  • Thank you, thank you!

  • just so you know he could indeed write, as a headstone put at his true burial site in 2000 is inscribed with something he had written that had been preserved..and fyi it is indeed legend that he sold his soul as ROBERT johnson made no such claim at any point, as it was TOMMY johnson who made such claims, check it out....enjoyed it nonetheless dude

  • fantastic!!! Knew Robert JR. lockwood he would have liked it alot. congrats, lmw

  • It's a very good documentary. You should be proud. I am a huge fan of his music (his lyrics are a huge influence on my own) and I thought you did a great job.

    - C sXe

  • Man, that was real good man. I felt like I was watching a real documentary. I can see why that took so long.
