Difference between workflow and application is that workflow is a automator file (so automatically opens automator so you can either run it or edit it) while application runs on double click BUT can be opened with automator by File - Open in the automator menu. Great vid tho, good work.

@xxxtman200100 Its simple, Automator has a REC button, click that and than do whatever you want the automator to do, afterwords the automator will repeat everything you did. Its really really simple.

Thanks for the introduction to ScreenFlow. I started using Macs when Leopard was released. I noticed the automator in Snow Leopard is slightly different have you made a tutorial on this version. It's amazing how much software I have bought and still haven't mastered. Good job!

If you save it as an app, you can also drag it to the finder bar (close to the spotlight on any finder window) for it to become a button :) I use that so i can convert all my cybershot videos to imovie

Ok Heres my problem I hope u can help me with that im trying to create a workflow which sends my downloaded songs to Itunes (I know Itunes should automatically open them) But sometimes it doesn't so i wanted to just create a workflow which takes all my sons form the download folder and send them to Itunes...

Excellent basic explanation. It might be worthwhile if you present some common repetitive tasks that Automator can improve. Renaming batches of files is probably something almost anyone can relate to.

Helping people understand the reason for learning and using this procedure will help to give them a frame of reference. Changing a visual effect on a batch of images isn't something everyone can appreciate.

You make it look so simple. I just dont get the automator "verbiage" that is part of the action. And the descriptions of what the action does at the bottom of the screen is not much better. It is an on going lesson. I did go to the web site you mentioned at the end.

Is that possible to do this all actions when I double-click on text "or maybe selecting and pressing some keys"..

1. copy text

2. past it in some text file

3. "find and copy it's definition next to it."

--> and do all these in the background "i mean without interrupting me from reading"

The Aim is NOT INTERRUPTING the READING.. when during reading I met some new unknown words "philosophical or some advanced hard word I copy them in to the text file for the further to find out definitions of them
