To Osmond haters. I won't try to change your opinion because I don't really care what you think. I am curious, however, as to why you care so much for our opinion that you would spend your time here trying to change our minds instead of watching videos of the Jacksons you claim to love so much. Another point I should make is that Osmond fans don't really care if these are sound a likes. That arguement will not sway anyone. Give it up and go watch your Jacksons.

It's in the first Magic & Madness book. This was a counter to the J5 at the time, Donny Osmond sounds too much like Michael for it to be anything other than a soundalike song. However this song was admitted to Berry Gordy in hopes of having the Jacksons recorded it, Berry rejected it. When The Osmonds signed to MGM AFTER The Jacksons had become the success they did, this song was given to the Osmonds. They did other soundalike songs as a well, such as Double-Lovin' and Yo Yo.

The Osmond's didn't want to sound like the Jackson's. By 1973 they were writing their own songs and playing their own instruments. Check out the music recorded after 1971 and you will find that the groups went in completely different directions. In Europe the Osmonds were a rock group while the Jacksons weren't. Check out Crazy Horses written by the Osmonds. This is the style of music the Osmonds wanted to do. Love it or hate it you must admit it is nothing like any Jackson music.

I remember as a kid there was huge competition between the Jackson 5 and the Osmonds. It became so heated from fans of the cartoon shows that they had a J-5 cartoon vs the Osmonds to see who was the better group. The production company of the Osmonds went after Motown and Berry Gordy proclaiming that the Osmonds were a "Better Group" that the Jackson 5 and that their popularity and success was coming to and end.

The fans wanted a "concert" of the two groups to see who was better. Motown wanted it but MGM (Osmonds label) back out, so they settled the the hit cartoon would have the concert instead. It was all in fun and i've would have loved to see this televised as a real concert. Imagine the crowd and ticket sales along with television ratings.

the Osmond idea was to "compete' w J5 and try to "re-capture" (their) youth who were steadily leaning toward MJ even back then-Osmonds really were talented..

they DID steal ALOT of the choreography and vocal style from the J5 (obviously see:"one bad apple") but J5 had one BIG advantage (half of their family would go on to top 10 (solo) hits and grammys and then there was the PRODIGY MJ who is STILL breaking world records.

The Police were heavily influenced by Bob Marley and the Wailers and Ska was the new category, The Bee Gees ripped there style from the Neville Brothers. Savage Garden from Smokey, N.K.O.T.B was assumed by many to be New Edition, when their manager later admitted they felt New Kids should go urban because "to many" girls where liking them.

That was until the saw the Osmonds singing it on tv. Then Blacks acused the Osmonds of trying to steal the Jackson 5 style.
