  • Did Aaron just dance around in a pink dress?

He has earned my undying love.

    mewithoutYou-Beautiful<3

  • I hope the next album isn't as acoustic and more like 'Foxes. That album was pure amazingness.

  • Why are there no reactions to this video, it's awesome! :o

  • MeWithoutYou goes back to 1979? It seems I only discovered them three years ago w/In A Sweater Poorly Knit

  • January 1979 is the title of the song, It's on the album Catch For Us The Foxes, I wasn't sure if you were kidding or not?

  • Actually--I wasn't kidding--I didn't know! I'm not familiar with the longevity of this amazing bunch of lyrical tuneweavers. (After all, there are folks who didn't know Pink Floyd went back to 1965)

  • @mellotrongirl Ohh, I see, well I realized my comment might have come off jerkish sounding perhaps? which I totally didnt intend at all, I just wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic or not, and if you weren't, I was trying to let you know so you could pick the album up :)

  • Love that ending!

  • The singer is awsome! he is using almost minimal effects. go to a concert of some of the modern bands and they sound like crap because its all digital, hes the real thing :)!

  • a lead singer that doesn't use auto tune... yeah, he really sucks. jackass.

  • like wtf happened in january of 1979?

  • I think its a refrence to him seeing a car crash and it opened his eyes to life, after life, and what the world really is

  • Idk man, Aaron is about 30 years old and 30 years ago it was 1979, perhaps he is referencing someone else's experience.

  • Aaron was born then and used to want to kill himself so he cursed January 1979.

  • I've read before that January 1979 was when he was born and that this song is a bit about him feeling like sort of a failure in life and the line "If I could become the servant of all, no lower place to fall" is a reference to something in the bible which is basically what is says, that if you live a failed, selfless life you can't fall, or rank, any lower, and in that , the experience can be freeing.

  • they mashed it and its ftw

  • awesome

  • i love how unique they are and the dance moves are awesome!

  • the dance moves are the best.

  • YES!

  • they played this last night

  • saw them about three hours ago.

i love this band so much

  • amazing band

    where are they from?

  • They're from Philly.

  • good song also like the mixed one dangerous buisness since 1979 lol

  • This song is really good. I like the folk direction that the band went in, but this is still probably my most favorite song of theirs.

  • sick!

  • It has reached the ears of those who have wished to listen, though perhaps not many, some always beats none.

    Peace be with you.

  • i think it's sad that mewithoutYou are'nt credited alot more. they're music is so much better than some of the mainstream shit now but not many people know who they are. they're incredible!

  • some? i would say better than all

  • Great band, gonna go see them next tuesday in concert

  • nice im seeing them in L.A on the 20th

  • is he wearing a dress?

  • yes.

  • this song is phenomenal.

  • i luv this song :]

  • most unique band ever!

  • Mewithoutyou are a great band, but you must've been missing out on a lot of music if you call them the moust unique ever.

  • like what

  • Well, there's some strange stuff out there. "Most awesome" band ever is a better label :)

  • damn this takes me back.

  • amen.

  • I see nothing even close to U2 in these guys, U2 suck.

  • AGREED

  • @c0dehx lol u2 is one of the most revolutionary bands to ever exist. just because it was popular before you were even born doesn't represent it sucking. you don't even play music anyway you dont get to critique other artists unless you play.

  • @andydogz2000

my father plays U2 in an independant french radio at their beginning, the boss tells him to remove them from his show (but he was playing a lot of new/cold-wave and dark/indus music) because "they will never get famous and are talentless". more of 20 year later we all know tthey became one of the most known band ever, all around the world.

my dad is surely the huggest fan of U2 ever, but he is too the first to say they suck at hell since a decade. and i totally agree with it

  • my god, this music video is amazing.

    and this band..

    except...

has anyone heard their newest album?

    COMPLETELY DESTROYED THEMSELVES

  • are you kidding me they have in gotten better imho

    really folksy

  • The lyrics are so dang poetic!

  • This song is the sh*t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • douche

  • this is pretty much the best band ever

  • Comment removed

  • This reminds me of Nirvana's In Bloom video and thats a good thing.

  • Get their album "Catch for Us the Foxes".

    You WONT be dissapointed.

  • the guitarist 4 that band on 0:44 is my student teacher!!

  • thats awesome

  • fucking mean gee

  • 90 mph will all the windows down blasting this song. Thats a good afternoon! hahaha

  • georgous outro

  • he's got the chi rho on his uniform!!

  • yes the chi rho that The Psalters use.

  • this best on the legion of dooms version this kinda ok 4/5

  • Aaron Weiss is one of the few good people left on this earth.

  • i love how free he moves and sings

  • dude. if you have such a problem with reading comments about religion, then just don't read the comments. dang. how difficult is that? listen to the song and then get the heck off the page.

  • I agree.

    Good stuff.

  • Stroke paso x aqui =D

  • First off,

I personally know the band. They do have quite a bit of Christian references. Sorry. If you want to enjoy the music, enjoy it, but they are right by trying to understand it all. For instance, "I could be the servant of all" has quite a bit to do with the Bible. Chill out.

  • YOU KNOW WHAT THE FUCK PISSES ME OFF?!

People put religion into music that the band wants people to enjoy.

Most of the time, I look at the comments for any mewithoutYou videos and expect to find everyone getting along, agreeing on how great the music is, and putting down haters.

INSTEAD THOUGH, I fucking see pages and pages of stupid religion shit.

    STOP CORRESPONDING RELIGION AND MUSIC.

    Please!

I have nothing against any religions, but leave religion seperate from music.

    That is all. Woo

  • dude mewithoutyou is a CHRISTIAN band they make this MUSIC to SPREAD RELIGION in the HOPE others will JOIN them in believing in the FAITH of GOD this is how they get there message across best through music and they enjoy it

  • Actually, mewithoutYou has said in interviews that they do not specifically consider themselves a Christian band and just hint towards Christian themes. The whole Brother, Sister album is about existentialism, corruption in the church, suicide, love, and war. So yes, there is Christian themes in mewithoutYou's music and that is fully intentional on their part, but they do not consider themselves a Christian band.

  • existentialism hmm the way with hardly any loop holes... who can hinder the freedom to choose and except one decisions. im glad i read your comment.

  • god says he reather y be hot or cold luke warm he'll spit y out

  • Kid A, Hail to the Thief, In Rainbows, OK Computer > The Bends. But this is mewithoutYou, take Radiohead elsewhere.

  • hmm... They ARE obviously inspired by God and stuff but I don't care about that either... Nothing against that but in my opinion organised belief brings hell on earth. Instead just find what the song means to yourself instead of other people, whatever their religion, interest or story is...

  • The ignorance you possess astounds me. Specifically, this song mentions being "the servant of all". This exact line may be found in Mark 9:35: "If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all." Also, the line "Crown me their grasshopper king with a dance of celebration" refers to Numbers 13:33 which reads: "We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them."

No religion with music? Try reading Psalm 150.

Read up next time, you'll be amazed

  • Ohmyfreakinggod, OKAY.

You're not getting my point, I listen to Thrice and people claim that Thrice is a 'Christian' band, although the band members don't want to be labled as that.

Anyways,I understand that some bands use Biblical referances, but that doesn't mean that you guys have to KEEP pointing it out.

It's getting old. You guys just won't stop talking about religion and MewithoutYou. Most people want to enjoy the music without looking through pages and pages of comments about religion.

  • Oh and you sent me that and a message AND comment.

Next time send me one, it'll save us both the trouble.

And also, I want to add that if mewithoutYou doesn't even consider THEMSELVES a Christian band, then why should we?

  • god loves you :D

  • its most def the type of music its not that hes trying to sing and he can't its just mewithouyou

  • I like the beat/music, but the singing is terrible-he sounds like a drunk who'se yelling to the heavens. either that, or it's the type of point he's trying to make or the kind o' music. I agree with the latter.

  • its spoken word

  • all fans of mewithoutyou should also listen to dangerous business since 1979- legion of doom.

    It sounds really nice

  • what happend to just listnin & enjoyin the music

who cares about religion when this band are awesome

cant go on youtube without pepole arguin about things tht clearly dont have anythin to do with the music

  • It's like spoken word, it's not singing really. I love them!

  • fucking stupip. if you paid attention to basically any interview with arron he'll tell you his songs are about a personal relationship with god, none of this denominational bullshit.

and if you hate his "singing" thats because its not singing.. its emotional spoken word, like saying a poem over music.

no what you're dealing with before you go telling strangers off in an online forum.

i mean damn, its just a music video.

    calm down.

  • Finally. A sane person who doesn't jump into arguments on YouTube! I agree with you completely. :glares at the clueless FahlalalalaXlalalala: Damn sister and her insane-ness.

  • it doesnt matter what your religion is, if you believe that Jesus came to die for our sins and we are all sinners. you are going to go to heaven

  • thats obviouse because that what u believe , i believe in no jesus and No heaven there fore why would i want to go there :S.

  • Jesus existed (Josephus, Alexamenos, Roman writes, etc), the religious ideals attached to him is what people debate over.

  • I love this song

  • i think he sings that way on purpose...so it ocntrasts with the music.

  • let's the leave the religious debates out of this and focus on the more important issue...those sweet freakin dance moves.

  • the legion of doom version is awesome. but this is pretty good to :D

  • i love mewithoutyou and jesus lol (but really)

  • @amarx123

Who told you that Hitler was a Christian? Its not your origin that makes you christian, but Jesus Christ himself. You must have a relationship with him. there is no other way! And im absolutly shure that Hitler did NOT have such a relationship. So, whatever you claim, have you ever thought about what your saying???

  • People worship God in their own way. Leave it at that.

Hitler was a Christian; he set up a Reich church.

  • this band's brilliance is so underrated.

    greatest christian band ever.

  • ok who cares about religion its good music just leave it at that u know

  • true that... I'm not religious but I enjoy Mewithoutyou's music

  • this band is such a lucid jazz band

  • Actually, this is emo band.

  • i love this song!

  • I am by no means atheist, but I will not bow befor any God that loves his people so much that he could send them to hell. Ghandi. In hell according to christianity. Hitler. In heaven, for he was a christian.

  • He wasn't a Christian. I think he was Roman Catholic or something. And Christianity is a broad term. Technically, baptists, catholics, independent fundamentalists, they're all Christians even though they all believe completely different things.

  • The only reason I write this is not for shock but question. How can you believe in the Christian God? Not why, but how. Where is it your right to say, "My religion is right, and yours is wrong" With christianity being one of the youngest and Islam one of the oldest, whos right is it to say which is right. And you may say Jesus Christ, but they would just as strongly argue that theirs is the right religion. So how...

  • Islam is significantly younger than Christianity. But I get what your saying.

  • Well... Islam is technically a type of Christianity. Though they're never seen as such. And even if you don't believe in the Bible, morals would say that Islam would be wrong out of the two; radical Islam, more specifically. Do some research on the two religions. Even more if you like or feel like. Scolars, english professors, historians; no one has ever found any fallacies or problems in the Bible. The koran, on the other hand is full of errors and stuff that doesnt line up with anything at all

  • no they aren't

  • How does anything about Islam - or being a Muslim - have anything to do with the bible - they have completely different beliefs, views - There are probably errors in both - Including the Bible - unless you're some form of Puritan - then there are parts in the Bible that contradict other parts.

  • Depends. Mostly between versions of the Bible. There are tons of contradictions in the NIV and such, but The King James Version has no proven errors.

  • I like how it sounds like a radio broadcast.

  • when were they a metal band

    what a great song

  • This was recomended to me today by my bf, I love it! ^_^ I'd never heard of them before. Cool video too, love the 'skipping sailor' dance moves haha

  • Check out "Four word letter pt.2" and "In a sweater poorly knit" they are a couple more awesome songs from this band. :)

  • and you have to check out "paper hanger". one of the most amazing songs by them.

  • Wolf Am I! (And Shadow) is a really good song, too. That was the first from them I heard.

  • i was floating in a peaceful sea, rescued by a sinking ship.

  • That's fine by me. I love his yelling.

  • in my opinion aaron doesnt really sing, he just.... yells.

  • hard to believe they used to be a metal band lol

  • they were never a metal band....

  • agreed, but he was good in memphis will be laid to waste, so who cares?

  • memphis...? as in norma jean?? help please?!

  • yeah, norma jean, mempis will be laid to waste.

  • no reason to thumbs down.. he is yelling. He also sounds damn good while doing it.

  • i love this fawking song man

  • what happend of january 1979 anyways lol?

  • from what i understand it was Aaron's birthday i believe and the crash represents him

  • its a reference to I Am Legend. the actual book.

  • AWESOME!

  • i have to say

i prefer this style of mewithoutyou compared to their more recent stuff

but that's not to say i don't love it :]

  • stunned ^_^.

  • I was like that when I saw it too, but I must say, the song ROCKS!

  • Best freaking lyrics I've ever heard!

  • haha coool

  • I like this one...

  • I love this song! you guys are amazing!

  • One of the very few songs that The Legion of Doom has mixed that I actually still like by itself :)

  • awesomeness :D

  • erm... good but different :D

  • Aaron Weiss is a poet, a fucking poet.

  • he absolutely is. aaron's writings are actually greatly influenced by a lot of rumi's poems, which makes his lyrics all the more beautiful.

  • God is the poet, teehee :P some of his lines and most, if not all, of his inspiration comes from God :)

  • Why can't I stop listening to this?

  • it's a goofy song.. but it's fun to watch him dance

  • I love this and I absolutely love that he dances in all his outfits... pink dress. ha. but seriously their lyrics are so amazing!!!

  • Song actually isn't very goofy at all, video is, but not the song.

  • theres something about this song thats just....AMAZING!

  • norma jean- memphis will be laid to waste aaron sings last min and a half

  • Where did I put my full-suit, red pijamas?

  • lovin' the drummer

  • omg ive been loooking for something new and god i found it. <33333

  • this song is 4 years old now..

  • and how big are these guys?

  • in my mind, theyre huge

  • Not very lol

  • i love this song! first song i've heard from Mewithoutyou was Wolf Am I! (And Shadow) and loved it! This one is even greater! Love it! Powerful tune, outstanding lyrics!

  • such a good song

    FTW! lol

  • don't usually listen to indie music like this but i saw this video on TVU and loved it! these guys are awesome!

  • Amazing Song!

BTW Theres A Legion Of Doom Remix Check It Out

  • Best indie/cristian band ever!!!! they are so creative. I was floating in a peaceful sea rescued by sinking ships. WOW thats a line

  • aaron weiss is the deffinition of a true artist not bull crap media

    aaron weiss is so real

  • Absolutely

  • YES

  • I heard somewhere that Aaron is autistic...is that true?

  • no he isnt autistic but the drummer who i believe is his brother is autistic but not like the extreme autism

  • and yes he is! More then the drummer geeze...
