  • "What the fuck was that?"

    -Henry Rollins

  • my fav birthday party song

  • bats are actually really cute animals

and the birthday party is actually a really good band

  • Makes me proud to be Australian

  • lmao, I had the speakers up loud and when the scream kicked in at 0:02 my dog jumped up and ran around barking, thinking there was a cat in the house

  • This really summed up the Eighties for me....

  • I smell Captain Beefheart influence...

  • this is awesome....took it to my music lesson in 1982 (girls grammar school...) at end of term when we could bring in 'our' music.....music teacher tolerated it....rest of class shell shocked (Duran Duran infected you see....)

  • Kind of sounds like a rip off of Bauhaus - Bauhaus was earlier. Not bad overall though.

  • @sqwuade not exactly, Boys Next Door was around in 1977, and went on to The Birthday Party in 1980. I would say they were concurrent bands....and they hated each other. LOL!!!

  • Difficult to get to my vinyl. Thanks for the post!!!

You just can't beat early Nick Cave!

  • all the best fuckin bands and tracks never really chart the charts have and always will be full of crappy pop bullshit the birthday party still fuckin rock

  • best description ever. LOLOL

  • shit, i'm gonna have to change the name of my song so people don't confuse it with this one....

  • checked this out because Rollins raved about it...uh, guess you hadda been there Henry

  • Vampires are REAL, but there are only like 13 or so, worldwide. So with 7,000,000,000 people, you're pretty safe.

  • crei que estas banda no hacian musica por llegar a las carteleras si no porque les gustaba hacer musica

  • An adequately insane collage, especially that weird guy with the crucifix pointing out God know's what.

  • biiiiiiiiite

  • I used to play this REALLY FUCKING LOUD before going out on the piss in Bristol in the 80's. Always associate this track with having A Good Night Out :-)

  • I love that it says 'failed to chart in the UK'...

  • sex horror, sex bomb horror,oh yeah.Awesome, wonderful stuff!!!Got this tune on vinyl,25 or so years ago, still proud to own this fuckin good EP.

  • what the fuck has failed to chart got to do with it u fuckin moron

  • @optimiztik Pointing out that good stuff like this gets overlooked by UK radio... dickhead!

  • @YCSMusic But even more so by U.S. radio which became

    quite corporate some time ago.

we jokingly call it 'Clearchannel radio' now which is not far from the truth!

thanks for uploading this old school stuff and keep it coming!

  • First heard this in 1981 in Cyprus. As John Peele said"Record of the Year and Still Record of The Year"

  • Whoa, these guys must have been a huge influence on the U-Men.

  • The best antithesis imaginable to X Factor offerings.

  • @1hutchcat You're so right !!

  • @YCSMusic

    100% right!!

  • Sounds like it could be something straight out of the mind of Alex from A Clockwork Orange

  • Sounds like Rick Allen could have got his Rocket drum beat idea from this!!

  • love on ya bedroom bowie x

  • I have to admit that it has taken me a bit of time to get around to listening to this band. These guys were awesome. As a long time Daughters fan, I am forced to wonder if Lex was influenced by Nick Cave at this point in his musical career. The striking similarties seem too overt to ignore. This is simply speculation, meaning that I'm willing to admit it could all be in my head. Take note of this, all you self-made pundits.

  • @bigtime360 Hey,checked your channel and noticed you got around to it:) I read a Locust interview long ago and they asked them if any band could get back together, who would it be? They said the Birthday Party and I've been a fan ever since. Always loved Nick Cave, but was totally unaware of his involvement with this amazing band. If you can find the John Peel Sessions CD, grab it!

  • This is one song that I don't think can ever be covered, at least successfully...

  • fuck

  • Dammit!That's beyond awesome!

  • First time I saw the birthday party was in Brisbane at the national hotel. Never knew music could so reek of sex. What charisma. I too have the EP. Still one of my fav songs EVER

  • Bite!

  • This song was as dangerous as it got to a 17yo, I was disturbed by the 'White Album' Charlie- boy and all, dug Lou Reed, Iggy, Led Zep. ACDC....but this changed everything!!!

  • God.

  • DELICIOUS!! i LOVE THE BIRTHDAY PARTY. I GREW UP IN THE 1980S. ONLY WE CAN TRULY APPRECIATE THEM!

  • Great post, mate. The best group I've ever seen live - London, 1982.

  • BEST SONG EVERRRRR!!!!! My friend introduced me to this a few years ago, along with many other things she's introduced me to that just should not exist lmao I love it!!!

  • @lilyslimit Yeah, I don't know where I heard that, but I've found out since... I wonder how many people I've misinformed...

  • @n0thank7 LOL!! Could be millions, maybe even billions-----and now they will never reach their full potential in life because they believed you-------how guilty do you feel??

    Lol-----mistakes happen, don't sweat it!!!

  • @YCSMusic He went on to do a LOT greater things than that duet. lol.
