1. Paul Revere would've been stupid to alert the British that he was doing anything--ESPECIALLY warning the Rebels of an impending attack--that night! They would've imprisoned him, at the very least, or executed him, at worst. That would've been a DUMB move on his part!
2. To my knowledge, Paul Revere was NOT a courier. He was a silversmith and he had a silversmithing shop in Boston. There are still several fine examples of his silver works in existence today.

It would give the colonist time to arm themselves and take the redcoats on. 1. Paul Revere would've been stupid to alert the British that he was doing anything--ESPECIALLY warning the Rebels of an impending attack--that night! They would've imprisoned him, at the very least, or executed him, at worst. That would've been a DUMB move on his part!
2. To my knowledge, Paul Revere was NOT a courier. He was a silversmith and he had a silversmithing shop in Boston. There are still several fine examples of his silver works in existence today.

So I think what basically happened is that she had no idea of Paul Revere or the Midnight Ride's historical significance, she probably absorbed a few facts but didn't pay any attention while she was there and wound up picking up on a part of the story that a lot of people actually aren't familiar with but then incorrectly smushed it into the part of the story everyone is familiar with demonstrating that she "understands" loose facts but had/has no idea what the context of the event actually was.

there are a lot of people commenting who are really hypocritical. I think she knew what she was talking about, but even if she didn't, how many of us new paul revere's story in detail? if someone shoved a camera in your face, would you have told the story perfectly? i admire sarah palin because she's like the rest of us, and we think too highly of ourselves to admit it. we all make mistakes. when we do it, it's ok. when she does it, you hear about it for the next 2 months.

what a bunch of hypocrites. the british HAD been there for the past seven years. with all the taxing laws britain was putting on the colonies, the colonists were boycotting items that were being taxed. some states were more patriotic than others. because of that, for years leading up to the war, there were redcoats that were to make sure there were no boycotts that got out of hand. how do you think the boston massacre happened?
