  • I won't even pretend to know much about autism but I have to ask something. Why would tickling be used to refocus? The situation I saw was he wouldn't clean his mess so you tickled him until he did...wouldn't he associate tickling as punishment? So when someone who wants to play with him tickles him, would he think he was being punished? Just curious, not a criticism. Thank you

  • What I did was follow a pivotal response influenced model. I saved the situation from being in his control by giving him an alternative rewarding activity to compete with his vocal stim. His stim was his way of telling me he needed a break. By not giving him the form of break he wanted, I was able to redirect back to extend the teaching session. I think of it as a give to get. Teaching without a rod up my backside...

  • I am guessing this was made a while ago cause Evy seems so young compared to other videos. You are an awesome teacher. Evy seems like such an intelligent and great kid. You should be very proud of yourself, being such a great parent and teacher and Evy for making such great improvements. Hope everything continues to go well for you and Evy.
