  • I just realized you look a heck of a lot like Gordon Freeman (from the Half-Life series).

  • @Leishmaniasisably Amusingly, that's the first thing Jason Bradbury of The Gadget Show said to me when I met him to lend the show my Atari Heavy Sixer.

  • Ahh displacement, you haunt me still.

I have so many issues from my childhood that continue to influence my reactions to everyday situations, and Knowledge of it changes nothing for me. I know that my feelings are sometimes irrational, but I can't seem to rationalize with my subconscious mind.

Sorry, I'm stuck doing family stuff today, and an internet enhanced phone is my only source of entertainment. I'll try not to inundate you with comments, but i had to respond to this one.

  • just wanted to say that after watching a few of these "Benways world" vids ,Im gald I did, some interesting thought processes going on, even if you do say you talk crap. lol (you dont BTW) well " I like your crap", now thats something I bet you dont hear every day? & something I dont say often! :-)

  • I get what your saying here. They say personality is contagious anyway so its not like you getting angry about the whole bread thing was really bad. Its just an event in your past made you a certain way. At least I thought thats what you meant "sorry if I was wrong". But a good example of that with me is my father beat me when I was a kid and whenever I see people hit there kids it makes me upset. If thats close to being similar.

  • much deeper video than we have come to expect, and i think its something that we can all relate to, interesting video too, just makes you think

  • It is indeed deeper than usual. I just thought I'd see what happened if I did something a little less light hearted. Probably won't do too many like this.

  • Interesting vid Steve. I can kinda see where you're coming from. I hate advertisments on TV too. =)

  • no no certain users like to hide parts of themselves and like to show there videos off in a certain way but i couldn't give a crap i show myself off as i do in real life i dont hide anything to anyone just to make good impressions im a more face person

i just assumed you liked old consoles and that and acted as you did normally i dont see how you could be hiding things to show the videos of in the best possible light, that just doesn't seem like you at all

  • experiences can influence your life but not just in childhood in your whole life time

why did you get angry at the tv? i dont understand its just an advert, its not showing off how people can steal from others without consequence its just the kid loved the toast so much he took it all and the mum was just like LOL you must be hungry she said oi just as a a cheeky jib for taking all the toast

but in the end its toast and he may just have been extremely hungry

  • very intresting video ;)

  • This really hits deep with me, and explains a lot of things... A lot of little links and connections with the things I've been doing and saying and events from when I was very young.

  • Yup. The curious thing about it is, very often you don't even see the connection, unless you stop and think about it, and then you find it's so obvious, you don't know why you never saw it before.

  • Maybe the psychologists make you think that way, so they can earn a living :o)

    Great video steve.

  • These strong responses to seemingly trivial things are caused be experiences we have as children. Good and bad experiences.

We humans are creatures of habit, habit of action and habit of thoughts and feelings.

  • I had no idea you were a "shrink".

    How cool.

I know there's nothing groundbreaking in any of what I was saying... it's all basic stuff, but I dare say you'll understand how liberating it is to talk about too.

  • I am surprisingly 'normal' for one. :P

  • I am surprisingly 'normal' for one. :P

I just don't go into 'shrink' mode in my normal daily life.

  • Excellent video, I actually know quit a bit about this kinda stuff being a shrink and all.

We have that what you describe to a certain extend, some more than others. It is true that basic experiences and basic relationships formed within your childhood do filter the way you perceive the world and do colour your actions in later life.

There's nothing wrong with that - in fact it can help us too. Help us recognize foes and friends, good and evil.

But sometimes those filters can cause problems.
