God, this brings back memories. I started on a Ninja 250, and sold it when things got rough awhile back. Have a '09 Busa now, but I really do miss that little Ninja. The Busa acceleration is great, but there's just something addictive about squeezing that little 250cc engine and maneuvering that was fun. Not only that, the Ninja 250 handled just great for commuting (just wanted more power on the causeways/interstate due to stupid/dangerous Florida drivers.)
Excellen ride, glad you kept the sound of the bike in there to. Really like the song aswell. And for all the 250cc haters, its not like you went out and got your licence and hopped on a 600 or 1000cc bike, you would of killed yourselves in the proccess. Everyone starts off small and builds up, thats how life works, even with a job you start at the bottom. so if you think you can just go from the bottom and jump to the top, think again. Because it will end up really, really bad.
@DANNYHEADSHOT I would be willing to say he did not, not hating on the busa guy but if he would have started on a 250 or even a 500 he would probably be a much better rider, the 250 right on his tail every curve, then he tries to speed away in the straights, I would bet if the 250 wanted he could have passed him and ran off on a curvy road, you can even see the busa crossing completely into the other lane, and not being able to hold his line, Not trying to hate on him though, just saying
this road is in between Crystal River and Homosassa - to the west of US 19. This ride started at the end of the road near the Causeway (Peck's Old Port Cove area) heading towards US 19.
Its all a big, bragging rights thing. VERY few people can even ride a 600cc sportbike to its full potential on the street. Much less a 1000. Its like my motocross bikes. I can get faster lap times on my backyard track on my KX 125, trhan I can on MY 350 KTM. Soon as you come out of the berm, and hit it. Im to the next berm before Im even halfway through 2nd gear, on the 350. Same with curves and sportbikes. Smaller / lighter can use the gears, and overall has better handling when equally setup
It's been said B4,"It all comes down to the rider, not the cc" 1)The 'Busa rider wasn't riding hard:(check the lean angles) 2) If the guys are going reallly fast, you can see it by the lean angles, the relative speed and how seriously they are knee dragging.) 3) His racing lines were crappy.4) His speed, acceleration & braking weren't typical of real sport riders. We can all pass slow riders and say how fast we were.(NOT!)
wow, i love the meatheads that think big CC's = good bikes, ive spanked my share of bigger bikes with my 600 hurricane, and i left a cbr1000 in some corners with the 250 (my wifes 88) he was PISSED, yea horsepower is no where near as high but the 250 weighs A LOT less....
oh and for that other comment...the busa ISNT the fastest anymore......the zx14 is!
Sorry to disappoint you, but this dude got left in the dust half way through his vid. (Even though the guy he was chasing was cruising really slowly!) Given two equal riders, the bigger cc always wins.
well youre half right........but you forget, lighter will corner faster, higger CC = More weight so where in a drag the smaller motor is beat....twisties...the lighter bike will prevail, unless the guy doesnt know how to get the most out of it, higher CC is only best in a straight like, i saw a guy on an r1 get his ass handed to him by a zx-636 ...they started straight line, r1 was winning until the corners
Great video on this very fun road. You did a great job on the first set of twisties out of the restaurant parking lot. I think the 250 could stay with just about any bike on that part of the road. Also you did a great job carrying a good pace thru the second set of twisties after you got stuffed by the cars. Enjoyed your video and I love my little Ninjetts. Ozello Rd is one of my favorites. Hey Nitro! . I am (soon to be) 42 and am actually considering a new Ninja 250. I currently ride an '82 Yamaha XS 650 but I want something new and something that handles well.
Just a few questions if you don't mind.
How does that bike handle on the expressway? Does the wind and other vehicles 'wake' play havoc with the bike?
How many miles do you have on your bike? I see you've had it for a few years so you much enjoy the size. It also appears to keep up with larger bikes.
Hello Mr. Bean! :-) I've had the 250 for about 3 years now and have put 18,000 miles on it in that time. It really is a great little bike, handles well, gets great gas mileage, and you can ride it hard without breaking a ton of laws.
It is actually pretty comfy on the hwy. I was commuting 1 hour each way for about 3 months last summer and didn't have a single problem. It does get blown around a bit but I've gotten used to that as well A gearing change would be useful for lots of hwy miles
Nice safe passes @ around 7 min, never know what might be cummin around the ben. There is a fine line between crazy & stupid, but you dont a second chance on a bike once your commited .. Kudo's Bro ..
