These guys were the Kings of live concerts, they kicked ass, seen em twice (Im an old fart,LOL) I wish the young kids of today could see how great the bands of the 60s and 70s were, real kick ass rock n roll. The shit out today is pathetic. Great Rock is out there, you guys just gotta go back and find it.
I saw MKII & MKIV, and Nobody rocked in a concert like these SOB's! Ive seen Zeppelin, Stones, been to 100 concerts at least. But DP just knocked the living shit out of all of them. You knew when you saw DP in concert, it was gona be awesome.
This was the first live telecast rock concert ever;...I was 13 years old and listened on a television which had a tiny 3 inch speaker and I was still totally blown out of my mind by their sound and playing ability. Black Sabbath preceded Purple and was also impressive.Purples' performance is available on CD but It seems to me the drums are a little weak in the mix.Ian Paice is the most under-rated drummer of all the rock drummers. His solo on the live album" Made in Japan" is one greates ever
Incredible musicianship .... Glen's singing and playing bass just awesome , Paicey nothing less than brilliant and Blackmore, Lord and Coverdale just great ...
@ andresc228.. Dude you gotta stop sniffing glue.. Coverdale/Hughes screamed just as much as Gillan! If you were a Deep Purple fan I guess you would've known that... Do you research first man, then make your comments.. All that riff raff aside, this concert is Rock History... Absolutely brilliant!
Blackmore's guitar playing is eclipsed only by Paicy's drumming. How do you like the way he mutes the crash cymbal. Reportedly during the recording of this song in the studio Paice got upset with the other members cause they were making too many mistakes and they kept having to start over and Paicy told them that they bloody well get it right the next time cause the drum part was very complicated and difficult to perform and he was going to walk off if they made him do it one more time.
Ian Paice is simply brilliant on this song. And deserves way more credit for his ability to play the drums. He keeps perfect "PACE" not to mention his timing is perfect and I love the way he plays the high hat and sounds like ? cow bell on this song.
To bad that these days no one does concerts like this. It's just go out sing the song and run out no solos our having fun on stage, just busines ... Live On Purple
@jerlu69 I suggest You to pick up an album called "Live In Paris 1975" - "Made In Europe" was a short compilation from this record. "Live In Paris" presented last concert with Blackmore, from first to the last note, with mid-number speeches and with absolutely amazing sound. If You have gear enaugh good, I suggest You to buy it and start writing a testament. You will be exploded.
Funny one of the best Purple tunes came after the classic line-up...but geez...Coverdale was an amazinh vocalist and Hughes an amaing musician in his own right. An epic moment in hard rock history that was mostly gone unnoticed. Some of the best Purple came from this period in my opinion...LOVE IT!!!
Undisputed professionals of rock - you have an overlapping melange of hard rock, blues, and classical music strung together in one track. You can also see how solo improvisations are expressed and yet snugly bound to the rest of the band's overall effort. Moreover, only true masters can get away with offhand drift of broken rhythmical tempoes without undermining the overall cohesion of the the whole team's music. A platinum masterpiece indeed!
Doesnt matter if he wore a wig, high heels, and yer ma's bra,,,,still the best F'in guitarist ever!! And, thats why he could afford to be an arrogant prick.
@TheShark1962 I don't personally see how. He's not exactly ignorant, more like arrogant. I'm not saying I agree with his career decisions and how he dealt with Gillan and others, but the only thing that really seemed to become a problem was his ego. He seems to be a nice guy, but with a lot of problems. Hey, if your life was being publicized all day we'd probably see a lot of negative things too. I'm not saying he can't be an egotistical jerk, but I think people exaggerate it to a degree.
Glenn Hughes what a voice. I think it's is the best combination with Coverdale. Stombringer, You fool no one, You keep on movin, The one you love, etc...

Jimi Hendrix couldn`t touch Ritchie Blackmore with a ten foot pole!
Either could Eddie Van Halen.
Ritchie Blackmore used by all others to measure their own self worth.
As for bands The Who absolutely destroyed all others on stage.
God bless England!
