@MIST382 It's a spock laminate. When you buy a vic firth tenor pad, it comes with laminates to but on the padded part for a different sound and he just put one on his pad

something that nobody seems to be mentioning is, if you play toward the edge and go toward the center gradually, it makes the same sound as a snare. its tighter at the edge.

First of all, its an awesome pad. I use it all the time with my drumline. Second, I have a question. I'm gonna get a pair of Innovative Percussion sticks, cuz they're lighter than my Vic Firths, and we use those as our show sticks. Which model should I get?I know there's like a million different artists, so I'm not really sure.

@SweeneyTodd2095 the mike Macintosh signature drum sticks are great, thats what my line uses, good sticks.

@SweeneyTodd2095 If you want light, probably Mike McIntosh, or the basic sticks they have. The Mike's are A TON shorter than they look. Or get Arena series sticks. Avoid the Casella's if you want light and/or are used to VicFirth. They are weighted like bass mallets and are heavy...like bass mallets..'cause Jim is a bass drummer.

the invader was meant to be a double sided pad, they don't advertise it in the name like most pads, but it is a double sided pad

What your hearing is the stick density...not the pad.

The wood composition is effecting the rebound, and thus the over all sound and attack...

I understand these pads are cooler but its a pad... something to play when your not on a drum, which shouldnt be that long if your worried about articulation. Ive had a slim pad and i just got a xymox and the slim pads treated me just fine over the last 6 years

How long did it take to get your pad and where did you get it? I ordered it a week ago and it said that the pad would ship out in 1-2 weeks and it might (idk if it would) take another week to get here because i'm in NJ and they're in Oregon. Is it really worth the wait?

i find the rim on the invader to be seriously obnoxious and annoying, but it helps to prevent pad hands.
