  • Dachstein is about one hour from Salzburg where Mozart was born, also lake area.

I heard this Hoch vom Dachstein by other player or local music group, but I love this one by Wien Sangerknaben, if anyone want to see pictures from Tirol please come to my site face book akiko furuya . I was in Innsbruck and Salzburg in this October too. Lots of snow. I quite agree with you, Austria is more than my expectation, too. Everything takes my breath away.

  • I have been listening to this song for 43 years and I love this song most from Vienna Boys choir. Because of influence of Vienna Choir boys and the movie "The Sound of Muisc" I became fanatic fan of Austria and travel there 2 tomes a year for 20 years. I stay mostly in Tirol, but all over Austira is very beautiful and melt my heart.

I returned two weeks ago from visiting Austria for the first time. I always imagined that Austria would be a wonderful and beautiful place. But I had no idea how beautiful or how wonderful. It exceeded all my expectations. I will have to go back.

  • Thank you very much orion8352 for sharing this lovely video clip. This is a beautiful folksong sung by the Vienna Boys Choir(from the LP record LIEDER UNSERER HEIMAT) also released on cd a few years ago.

The first time i heard this folksong (Hoch vom Dachstein an) was on the LP record WENN ALLE BRUENNLEIN FLIESEN Die Wiener Saengerknaben singen Deutsche und Oesterreichische Volkslieder Dirigent Uwe Christian Harrer recorder 1979 released 1980 by RCA.

  • This song is from "Lieder unserer Heimat," a Vienna Boys Choir LP record of folksongs and lieder (from the Ferdinand Grossmann era). It is in my opinion one of the loveliest albums the Vienna Boys Choir ever put out. Today's Vienna Boys Choir will never come even one quarter to the sound you hear in this video.
