I love max, but that modifier list so damn confusing. There's so many modifiers each with it's own function and no explanation what it is. I'm really missing that short explanation message that pops up when you hover your cursor over an option.
Right click on your viewport name (Upper right hand, it will say left, right, user, perspective and so on) and go into Transparancy. In there, you have 3 options, Best, simple, none. If your on one, try another option. It may be your video card does not support the type of smoothing. Also, make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date.
Thanks. I hope to have another one up early next week. Im thinking smoothing groups tutorial, since it seems a lot of new modelers dont quite get the concept.
Not a problem. Unfortunatly, since Max is so very complex, I cant explain how to fully use the interface in the 10 min time limit. Hopefully your able to pick up some nice tips though. Ultimately, if you want to learn Max properly, I suggest taking a class at a local community college. Many of them offer classes in multiple 3D modeling platforms for very cheep. I took one at CSU Fullerton, and a Maya class at Glendale Community College
Ya. Its a VERY VERY complex interface, but that is also the beauty of it. There is more then 2 ways to do ANY function in max. You just need to find the way YOU like. Even something as simple as modeling this prop can be done 100 different ways.
Also, Max is such a big and complex program, NOBODY alive knows EVERYTHING about this program. Not even the people at Autodesk. So dont try it. Just learn the stuff that will help you. I didnt know about the Alt X for 3 years of working.
How do you import your images into 3dmax. I'm just starting out.

Will these models like this will work in a mod like crysis?And where do you find the blueprints?
lnightwolfl 1 year ago
@lnightwolfl
Almost any model made by max can be exported into Crysis with there SDK. As for the 3 views, there are a few places you can buy them on the net.

@lnightwolfl you can search for sketches and blueprints on google.
i found there all the aircraft i wanted to model - from MiG 15 to AN 225
