Germany is among the highest in Internet laws, england is a member of an antipiracy nations group along with France Italy and many other counties. my best bet would be India, they actually have great Internet freedoms, and are one of the biggest progressors of technology.

I am one of the pirates that pay for the product I like, the product that I find good enough to pay for. I don't have enough money to buy everything that is being released, which in turn means that everything I download doesn't necessarily mean that I would have bought them otherwise. This is where the industry errs. They actually don't understand that downloading doesn't mean loss of income. Later when I can afford buying the game, I will. Then I will still keep the image copy in the computer.
I think that the users who download anything from 'The Pirate Bay' should be charged so they can legitimately download files or else they shall face major (possibly life-lasting) consequences if caught by the government (i.e. go to prison, pay a huge fine).

When someone is buying a CD the artist himself get something like 5-6% of the actual price.
The one who is making money is the record company.
But if you download a song the artist may get more fans...and more tickets sold on their gigz.
That's where the artist makes money.
