  • Yea?

  • So whatever happened..?

  • Travis Mash is fucking pathetic.

  • @ViKtoricus Ive seen your videos and you are the true definition of Pathetic. You cant even clean and jerk 185 and when you missed you used the excuse of sweaty shoulders? You have no right to tell a man who probably does every one of your lifts x 3, well quite frankly, anything. You sir are a complete joke.

  • for being only 13 years of age i can squat 615lbs raw DOPE-FREE with perfect form ass to the grass! :)

  • i dont wanna hear anybody talk shit cuz travis works at my gym and is about to b my trainer and ive seen him picked up a bar wit 135 on it wit 1 hand

  • his clean form is actually pretty good..what lifts has he done recently?

  • Hopefully, he will lift at the Arnold.

Great place to showcase his wares and chains.

  • watch?v=hV9cfc5Khc8

To see a video of more lifting against band resistance with some science as well.

  • He should have kept going

  • Badabuum1985, I think you have missed the concept of using bands and chains to develop speed strength. If you use 45-55% of your max with bands/chains it teaches your CNS that the weight is only going to get heavier through out the lift, so you had better get the weight moving extremely quickly as to beat the bands/chains. If you still don't get it I suggest you go to the west side barbell site and read some of their articles, there super heavy weight lifters out jump NFL players.

  • To use bands or chains is not a good idea in the snatch or clean. The aim is to get the weight flying and then go under it. The chains or bands are working against that "flying phase".

His technique and flexibility is horrible and his pure strength alone doesn't make him a good Olympic lifter. A good example is Mark Henry who had no chance at all in 1996 in Atlanta.

  • @Badabuum1985 Explain Vasily Alexeyev who frequently trained in water. " I invented many things

myself. For example, I began to work a great deal with the barbell in water. I searched and experimented...and here is the result. I made my way from 500

to 600 kilograms in three years.."

  • Comment removed

  • you could fly if you loose some weight i think

  • the negative comments are misplaced...he is to be commended for doing both olympic lifting and powerlifting...while it is true most olympic lifters dont train like this perhaps they should incorporate a strength phase like ths in their regimen..most of our olympic lifters could use some more pure strength and this guy has plenty

  • @paul418cj

It's an interesting way to train and a LOT of Throwers and Strongmen train this way, a blend of Powerlifting and Weightlifting. But it's without question that the most impressive thing he does his his box squat while his least impressive feat is his competition pulls. True, the reason Americans are not winning is because they are weak, but the best Weighlifters (Greeks, Bulgarians, Russians) get strong doing Just squats, front squats, and a DL here and there.

  • @paul418cj Google "elitefts why we actually suck at olympic lifting" and read the first article.

  • He doesn't deadlift in this video, smart guy. Those are call "jump shrugs" and he preformed them correctly. You don't even know what lifts he's doing and you insult him? you = fail. you = weak. you = jealous. Or wait, I'm sure you compete a lot and hold many records. Why don't you post your 420lb front squat? 600lb squat? At least a 47 inch box jump, those are easy! Fucking fag.

  • this guy is very strong, but has no coordination. if you want to a OL, you must practice the full olympic lifts every day, it's that simple. powerlifting and weightlifting are much much diferent in biomechanics

  • @DaniellesBarros; travis was at the oly training center prior to being a powerlifter. He knows how to oly lift.

  • great work, VERY impressive, but this is NOT how anyone who has EVER gone to the olympics trains

  • whats with the bands and chains. this aint powerlifting

  • powerlifters borrowed bands and chains from old russian olympic lifters...so there ya go. progressive overload works with both...

  • i guess progressive resistance would have been the better word

  • white boys can't jump? think again.

  • Whoa!

    Awesome!

  • Your the man travis!! good luck on your comeback.

    Brandon

  • Ok there ya toolbox, if you can read, this is the beginning of his training, lets say that again, BEGINNING! He competes in the 220 lb class in powerlifting, which means he is 220 or under, so he is not over 231 lbs. And lastly, olympic lifts require a lot of practice, I'm sure he will be lifting more in the later stages of training when his technique gets better.

  • Jang Mi Ran (female of 242lbs) with a total of over 700lbs. which is comparable to the male lifter Fan Yang (62K) 315 kg

  • It looks like this guy at 220lbs has a Clean of under 400 (according to the vid) and Snatch of under 280. Strong - yeah. An olympic lifter B class? No. Not even close.

  • to put it another way there are many little chinese girls under 70K who are stronger than Mash. A significantly higher CJ, S, FS, possibly even Push press

  • And they may well have been forced to train from childhood,as communists do. Training in the best of conditions, coaches and with a good likelihood of being roided up. While this guy says he started training last year. Don't forget the importance of technique either.

  • Oops,I got profiles mixed regarding the starting of training but either way,the points apply just the same.

  • to put it another way there are many little chinese girls under 70K who are stronger than Mash. A significantly higher CJ, S, FS, possibly even Push press

  • yeah, right. A 70K Chinese girl with a 400+ C&J. And they probably can jump over the moon also.

  • +75K TANG Gonghong CJed 182 kg (over 400lbs). KASAEVA Zarema (69K) has a CJ of 157 kg which is close to Mash who is double her weight seems to clean. Mash can't even compete A class in the 62KG men's weight class.

  • Bullshit, A class in 62kg is like a 280 total.

  • Oh and Tang Gonghong weighs about 40kg more than Mash and is about as feminine.

  • Are you serious? Not even close.

  • I would not like to fail a snatch with bands. :o

  • ive had the pleasure to workout with and compete at the same shows as travis. He's a Beast.

  • That was very impressive!

  • thats a good work out robert ferguson bearcat power 105 kilo class

  • i never saw a training like that .... his plyos are sick!!!! the snatch with the band impressed me the most ....

  • i feel the same, the snatches WITH BANDS were SICK. The first time i saw it I thought "Was that a fucking snatch with bands?!"

  • UNREAL

  • What are the songs played?

  • i dont think ant of you know this but he started as an olympic lifter and a good one at that

  • what are his best olympic lifts? what´s his weight?

  • i guess by "any top pro" you are excluded, right? who are you to talk, then?

  • Brutal strength

  • I dont think his goal is to be a weightlifter......powerlifter or strongman maybe??

Either way, as a Olympic weightlifter myself, I dont care what anyone says.........this guy is a fuckin PIMP!!! How many guys do you see his age, that big with that speed........not many outside of the NFL and Olympic heavyweights.......that guy is a beast!!

  • hilarious!

  • very strong but technique and flexibility is horrible......not gonna make it to far in this sport until u work on those 2 things.....

  • it'll be interesting to see how far travis goes with his training. If he's successful, it'll basically shake up everything int he weightlifting world

  • very impressive.

  • bands and chains in olympic weightlifting wow.your one brave dude.you dont want to miss one of those lifts.

  • its that joe defranco spotting?

  • what an athelete fucking incredibal

  • Look forward to seeing training progression as time gets closer. Awesome video. Some great ideas!

  • Damn, that snatch with the bands is crazy as hell.

  • Amazing work. I love the fact Travis brings some powerlifting tricks over to Oly lifting.

  • I would not use chains or rubber - it's not natural - just pure weightlifting. Otherwise, amazing!

  • i agree.

  • They are for speed. Incredibly effective as you need to be as fast as hell to get under a bar like that.

  • pure weightlifting already does that, ask any top weightlifting pro in the world if they use chains or bands, theyll all say no because just weightlifting gp practice gets the job done for speed.

  • if you ever lifted against bands or chains you'd understand why he uses them...

  • ill say it again ask any top pro wut they do and this is not part of it.

  • this is a very obvious statement you made...what makes Travis' training unique is that he's brining what made him a WPO champion (i.e. accomodating resistance, the conjugate method) over to his OL training.

  • oh my
