@coloraturafan Do you know the following recording of La Cenerentola, with Cecilia Bartoli - the final scene? I sent here as a video response. The coloratura is very impressive. ( or do a search in YouTube in " La Cenerentola - G Rossini -Scene 3 - Cecilia Bartoli' solo " )
This is what I call a compilation!! Extremely good work, and how some have said, you should add the names of the arias, there are some of them I can't recognize
my GOD, the best one of the bunch was Roberta Peters, and that's because she's American trained and it shows !! Beautiful tone, unforced high notes (unlike her European counterparts who's high notes are harsh and ugly) and a perfect vibrato!
@kerryincolumbus American uber alles ... ! This asshole, as you say was born in Italy....Opera is part of the Western classical music tradition [2] and started in Italy at the end of the 16th century (with Jacopo Peri's lost Dafne, produced in Florence around 1597...
By 1597, your low level European ancestors were still busy killing the true Americans , BITCH !!
I just wanted to thank you for you amazing contribution to the youtube Opera Scene. So many amazing singers and songs I would have never discovered if it werent for you AMAZING videos.
And even though I am a studying to be a tenor, I will always love sopranos, especially coloraturas, at heart.
@coloraturafan Sorry to read about the rough time you're having. Your work with music has brought joy to many in their moments of sadness, and such selflessness is not deserving of personal tumult or the infliction of pain. I hope you continue to find comfort in the music. <3 from one Cinci opera lover to another :)
Hi colaraturfan, just a question : what is the first Dessay air? (Hamlet?) and from which concert is taken? thank you and good luck for your life......
What a gold mine. Think of those trills alone, not to mention the scales, then the high notes. What is the human voice possible of? What great, great fun. Thank you.
Your "therapy" does wonders for me, too! I'm not really the artsy fartsy type, but for some reason I absolutely love those spectacular high notes. Love Mado Robin's stunning notes. Love Joan as a blonde. And, it was great seeing Roberta Peters. Used to think she was so pretty when she'd appear on TV ages ago. Thanks for all you do for us coloratura fans.
@fradnand I have a lot of late-Sutherland videos uploaded but of course the quality of the voice is in no match to her earlier recordings as presented here. I do recommend purchasing the Complete Bell Telephone Hour DVD if you can find it, it has great videos of Sutherland in color and in better voice than her color recordings in the 80s. Most of it is uploaded on my channel.
@TheWisemonkey8 Sills did a great studio recording of Gulio Cesare, the Da Tempeste and Non Disperar recorded there are in great quality. I have uploaded them but unfortunately due to copyright reasons these videos are blocked on my channel :P
@uniquebfly I believe Sumi's Carnaval is actually once sung live in France - i wonder if anybody, somewhere out there has footage of that performance :)
As some of you may already know, I've been having a lot of trouble in my personal life, and this video was a really nice form of therapy. It is wonderful what music can do for your soul.
@coloraturafan My dear, I did not knew you where having difficult times, I wish all the best for you, and will pray those days turn into happy ones as soon as possible!!!. This is the least we can do, in return of all the joy you gave us, by sharing all this wonderful materials with us!!!!. I wish you all the best. BRAVAAAA!!!!!!!
@coloraturafan Music is the only true energy in life... eastern thinkers already knew it. May ur problems wash away with the cleaning power of music and voice. And thanks a lot for the great moments of joy u have given me with ur uploads!!!! Coloratura vibes for u!!!
@coloraturafan Sorry about your troubles, but thank you for sharing your therapy. Hope it helped you as much as it pleased us (your viewers/listeners/commentors, not the over-grand version of "me").
@coloraturafan Hey CF. Just remember everything will always get better when you hang in there and realise that there are still people who care and love you. Remember: "It Gets Better." ;-) Anyway, this collection of clips way exceeds all other coloratura clips out there! Thanks for sharing with us! =)
Wonderful~!. Had a brutal weekend, full of rain. This, like many if not all Coloraturafan contirbutions makes it all better~! When was Dessay's opening clip ? I'm always amazed how little she moves. Thank you again for your clips.
I would be wonderful if you would upload Sills Handel Cleopatra 12:39 ... the current video on youtube is woefully chopped and messy. This was great fun! Seriously, I loved it! The dog jumped a bit though!
I'm sure you're going to get a bunch of "but you left out __________" comments but I'm not complaining in the slightest. Almost 15 minutes of some of the best coloratura singers in the world. What more could you ask for? Brava!
