Phil is one of the most under-rated guitarists & I've never figured out why. He comes up with the most tasty licks over the atmospheric Roxy sounds and-in my opinion-puts it over the top with the dynamic he creates playing off of the rest of the band. His primitive guitar album had some great experimental stuff. Damn I love this song! This album & Avalon bleed perfectly one into the other without being repetitive about it. One of the true trail blazing bands rock has produced.
I seen a lot of shows in my concert daze, late 1970s thru end of decade, none so satisfying as the two Roxy music shows at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles in 1983. It was the same tour and band we see here. Phil M., Andy Newmark, et al. They called it 'The High Road.' The LA songs, Avalon, Can't Let Go, were fresh I bought a t-shirt that was two pieces of material sewn like something out of Star Trek. Phil Manzaneres is as great a guitarist as any who ever played.
Oh i love this song. It is my favorite Roxy Music song. Great version and a good female drummer. i never seen here before, who is she and does she still play drums?
@NoSheep2 Oh yes, sorry, the drummer must be simon phillips. Too much alc at the late evening are not good for the eyes, i see :-)) Thanks for your comment
