from what i learned is that some group that was against the demolition/rebuild intentionally set the woodwork on fire to try to send a message to Avalon Bay to leave the property alone. it didnt work but cost a lot in damage. AB should of just left it alone anyways.

i really dont know why they wouldnt do anything less destructive. i mean there was no power going to the place so theres no way that it could of been any kind of electrical fire and the power room was away from the building and didnt have any fuel. so its really obvious. unless AB screwed up and left something running that they shouldnt of have. AB is morons anyways and like i said before, they should of left it alone.

i went there probly. . .5-6 times. i knew a friend who was a security guard there.

he always said he never stood alone around the asylum. he was scared as shit. said he sees ghosts and hear them.

i bet something paranormal started this.

Heh... It looks like Danvers has a mind of its own. "I would rather burn than be remodled into an apartment!!"-Danvers Hospital. But I don't know why people who sneak in are moaning about it being remodled. Pretty much all you did was wreck the place and make it even worse. That was part of the reason why they decided to tear the building down. Your just upset because you don't have anyplace to trash and have to go to another defenseless abandoned building to prey on.

hey gmjssc, it's not about losing a party place, it's about losing a piece of local history. And no, most of us didn't go there to wreck the place, we wanted to preserve a piece of history into the old Danvers State Hospital, and the origins of the Kirkbride style of architecture. The Danvers "Kirkbride" isa still standing in this video, off to the far right of the fire. It was singed, but it survived.

Only the main building stands. I live 10 minutes away from there. I checked it out tonight. There is a pool righ behind the main building lol. Creepy place.

Actually the main building is gone too, technically. They saved the brick shell of admin and a ward on each side, but it was only a facade...they built a crappy building inside of that. A lot of the shell was beat to crap too during construction and had to be rebuilt. The inside is like totally incongruous with the outside, heh.

Nothing of the old hospital burned, since it was mostly gone already. Only one spire on the small part of the Kirkbride's shell was burned from ambient heat and flames.

Thing is, it's not Danvers State, but just a bunch of crappy plywood and vinyl condos tacked onto 33 percent of one building's shell, so if you think about it Danvers disappeared almost a year and a half ago. Karma is a bitch I guess, they tore down most of an historic landmark and ruined it.
