You roughly have 10 solder points. Basically every wire for the motor and the sensor system will need to be soldered. For anyone planning on doing this you don't need a 100$ soldering set up. But you will need an iron that is at least 100 to 140 watts. You can find these at lowes, wallmart and many other places. Cheaper 40 watt'ish irons just dont put out enough heat for this type of sodering.
I have nothing but problems.I ruin my Tekin tt1152.My opion i think tekin has the worse idea for connecting wires. You make it look easy.Im using some $5 dollar soldering gun with a pointy end, from Walmart
I could perform a similar soldering job with a 40watt Weller Chisel Tipped Iron from Home Depot for $20. IT's all about tinning "prep" and heat transfer.
@1521joe as far as temperatures go i dont know exact numbers, but if this is a hobby you take seriously and want the right tools to do the job right the first time. i would look for something that will reach at least 800 degrees. because the faster you can get the solder to flow the less chance youll have at heating everything up (and youll just get a cold solder joint, NOT GOOD) so i looked on google and there are alot of different irons, so i would look on a maufacturers website to see what...
@1521joe id say a good iron, to make it easy like he does in the vid, it would be a good idea to have an iron that reaches about those same temps. look around on google for soldering irons. you can find good ones for under 200 bucks. or go to a hobby store and talk to someone about what they use.
randy if u dnt mind what was temp u set when u did this work? i just want to get this to the dot so i dnt butcher my precious rx8.again appreciate the input
@Huleboer99 if you dont have a high quality soldering iron such as a Hakko which looks like hes got, you wont be able to get it hot enough quick enough. thus making the whole unit hot! i would strongly suggest going to amainhobbies and buying there Hakko soldering iron (if you dont already) i know from experience the irons you get from lowes or home depot do not get hot enough. hope this helps

Guys.
the iron in this vid will reach temps of 480c or 900f
thats the kinda temps your iron must be capable of , if your gonna make this kinda work easy, like on this video

same issue with mine. randy, whats the wattage of your soldering iron? if possible include the brand. thanks

Hi Randy. How hot are your soldering iron? I have a hard time to heat the post properly.
Instead the whole ESC gets hot. I can feel the heat on the heatsink. It gets very hot.
And still the solder is not even close to getting liquified.
