  • Love the Mo-pac units!

  • Sweet Footage! What Amtrak train ran over the Chester then?

  • Absolutely none! This one was a detour due to the great flood of 93.

  • COOL VIDEO!! I wish the MoPac was still around, that's for sure!

  • Love the footage! I live around the area of The STL UP lines. Brings back memories for sure! This is when the railroads actually ran trains! Very cool stuff!

  • Where is the Chester Sub located on the UP and when did SP trains got onto this line?

  • This video was shot in and around Dupo, IL which is the northern portion of the Chester sub. It stretches southward through southeast Missouri and beyond. At the time of this video, Cotton Belt (owned by SP) had trackage rights so their trains showed up as often as UP's.

  • i see

  • Most of the trains from the Cotton Belt came out of Pine Bluff, AR, while the MP and later UP trains came out of Texas and Arkansas. The reply I left above mentions the track layount. The Cotton Belt Illmo Sub. went all the way down to Jonesboro, AR from the Mississippi River.

  • The Chester Sub. technically went from Valley Jct., IL to Poplar Bluff, MO, but between SIMBCO, IL (the Mississippi River Bridge) and Dexter Jct., MO, the tracks were part of the Cotton Belt Illmo Sub. until 1996.
