I am considering getting on for my 2005 V6 Mustang. There are many videos out there though that when the engine is reved, there is an annoying "snapping" sound. It sounds like garbage. I don't want to buy one and hear that. Does anyone know what that sound is and if it can be avoided? Thank you.
what is the next thing i should get on my 08 v6 stang. right now i have a K&N CAI flowmaster 40 series. im thinking about a throttle body spacer but idk if they really work.
Dr. ilduce, I believe its time to get rid of those poor old tires you have this spring.. When can you and I take a video run of the disentegration of the rear tires??
Nice how did you pull out 327Hp I was looking into installing a turbo but what do you think about intakes? I know I won't get as much out of an intake but was wondering how much more a good intake will spiff up the beast.
Thanks for the info. I thought it wouldn't be much.. What kind of Turbo did you put in your stang. I am pretty sure that is the route I am going to go with.
nice man im getting it 2 in a lil bit and dont say shit the new v6 is the equvilent of an 01 gt ok? and the new 4.0l has mad potencial i should knoe i own one 2 hey ilduce321 wa mods did you put in ur 6?
I now have the MRT AeroTurbine muffler, Powerhouse aluminum driveshaft, CHE lower control arms, CHE strut tower brace, and X-Charger Hi-Po supercharger.
i have a mustang v6 too with a flowmaster 40 series axle back and its no american thunder but it sounds amazing, and yeah i get the popping noise right when i start my car too but then after 5 min of driving it goes away.
Haha, yeah, the MSRP for a no frills v6 is over $19,000. A no frills GT? $25,000! You can put a lot of options in the v6, then add mods plus a Paxton supercharger (Putting hp at 350) for less or slightly more than a GT? I just bought a 2007 pony package v6... best purchase ever!
It does that when the engine's still cold. I've been told it's detonation of gas in the exhaust system. When the engine is good and warmed up, it doesn't pop at all.
It also sounds a lot worse than it is because I took that vid clip using my Kodak digital camera....

An intake with a tune will probably at best get you no more than 10-15hp...any advertisement/salesman who says more than that is BS-ing you...

Is it too loud/obnoxious for everyday driving? I don't want to set off car alarms unless I'm opening it up.

What is the volume difference compared to the stock exhaust?
hockeyplayerforlife 4 years ago
what about the warranty situation?? did it void your ford factory warranty?
hockeyplayerforlife 5 years ago
I am going to get that exact exhaust for my Mustang! It sound wicked!!!! Did you install it yourself?
hockeyplayerforlife 5 years ago
Yup! Took about a half hour or so. Very easy install...take off the old one, slide on the new one!!!
ilduce321 5 years ago
wait.. so u dont have to weld it?
BigDirtyBlack 5 years ago
no, a weld isn't necessary...it's recommended. You reuse the stock clamp.

What's up with the popping...? Does that go away? I currently have a GT single axleback... and it does not pop.

to have what I have in the V6, the GT would cost about $8k more than what I paid for the V6...and I'm plenty happy with what I've got!!
