  • I saw this in the Ashland Shakespeare Festival this summer. Funniest play ever. <3 So much love.

  • Rex Smith is wonderful!!!

  • How could they not take him up on his offer?!

  • he's adorable!

  • talk about vibrato!!!!!

  • I reaaly really want to know where this whole film can be found, its so good, well from what ive seen. is the whole thing on youtube? im trying to see if i can watch it by any means short of ordering it from the US.

    x

  • @tomaswolstenholme I know it came out on dvd recently and can be ordered from amazon :]

  • I don't get it in the scene before this one he asks Angela Lansbury if she is pretty since he hasn't ever seen any woman besides her and then when he sees these girls he gets angy with her because he sees that she isn't calling her a "faithless women". Then he spies on the women and starts sweating overcome with uh well.. and then procedes to call them homely! Confusing!

  • @ABBAnMJ close ups look different than afar

  • @ABBAnMJ

Actually, it's hilarious. All Fredrick really knows is that, compared to to his nurse, these girls are beautiful. However, he does not know whether these girls are beautiful compared to other women. However, he is satisfied enough with their looks, but for all he knows, they are plain and they know it. So he wants to put them at ease by saying he doesn't care. It's hilarious.

  • "In this effective, but alarming costume" haha.

  • i have seen this movie about a million times and i think that fredrick is a great guy because he found his true love mabel. he also has a uniqe manly voice. he will be a perfect pirate right next to the pirate king.

  • Frederick's not great on Pick-Up Lines is he? ;-)

I think I'll stick to "Do you like mushrooms, coz I'm a fun guy!"

    LOL

  • Gosh, these girls are only focusing on his 'homely' comment. They should be focusing on his offer XD Sounds pretty good to me.

  • god i love rex :) i play mabel in my theatre's production of this, i hope it turns out as good as the movie

  • Rex Smith is the ideal Frederic, I reckon. As is Linda Ronstadt the ideal Mabel.

  • OMG!!!!!! I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS IN FOOOOOOOOOREVER!!

lol... just as funny as I remeber. "Is there not one maiden here whose homley face and bad complextion has caused all hope to disppear from ever winning man's affection?" LOL

and an Elvis inflection... you gotta love Rex Smith.

  • Yes:)

I love Rex Smith and this plot.

He is really cute, funny, and charming.

  • YES, that Elvis moment just makes one squeel xD His face when they say "How rare his beauty" is SO CUTE!!!!!! XD

  • i was a stupid police officer

  • @ILoveSaiAndHateIno The police officers were the best! If I were a dude and a production of this was going up, that's what I'd go for.

  • @ILoveSaiAndHateIno why is that this comment cracks me up

  • im aditioning for this play TOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im in the play too! im the pirate king

  • IM ADUDITIONING FOR THIS MUSICAL

  • I love him!

  • Me,too^_^

He is specifically handsome when he sings.

  • Love When he echos and makes them cry

    FUNNY!!!!

    LOVE THIS SHOW

  • Pink was making me hungry.. How many Woman were there? Dude was stealing the picture at 3 minuets or so..

  • one of the best musical pictures. the cast has alot of talent.

  • Rex Smith has an amazing voice!! Gives me goosebumps!! LOL

  • This opera...

  • is not an opera.

  • is actually a comic opera. loooook it up...yo.

  • It's an operetta. Not an opera. No one sings opera in this. And not all of it is music. And opera's tend to be in italian.

  • Good point. I jus' do as I see.

  • Okay? That makes sense how?

  • type in "Pirates of Penzance comic opera" into your search engine... lots of people are under the impression it's a comic opera. That's where I got the idea from.

  • Opera come in all sorts of languages. Carmen, one of the most recognizable operas, is in French. The Magic Flute is in German. Ever hear of Wagner??? "The Ride of the Valkyries" from "Die Walküre" was used in the famous helicopter/Napalm scene in "Apocalypse Now".

  • I LOVE IT!
