Your opponent was an idiot. His archers were wasting arrows on one measely unit in testudo formation. He could've diverted their attention to all your other troops to keep them pinned down while the rest of his troops made more than two holes in your fort and attacked at several angles. You set the rules clearly to his advantage and he still lost.

Im not any good RTW player.. but i don't get it.. Why don't the Gaul spend all its arrow and broke more walls before attacking considering the romans don't even have any archers units..? is it deemed "un-sportmanship" to do so in RWT online battles?

@tobias140263 First of all, leave fire at will off. Then, when you want to attack, do alt+right click. This makes them use theirs swords directly and won't use pilla.

Attrition against the romans inside the fort is kinda tuff, mainly when it's against Prince of Macedon.

@infidel94 - Fair enough, that's your opinion, but I prefer routing. It makes the game much more realistic - I mean, really, how long to you expect a small group of peasants to hold out when surrounded by pikemen, and being torn apart by heavy armoured elephants? Without routing, that would make peasants MUCH more effective as a tie-up unit. Plus, routing increases the value of, say, Spartan Warriors and Urban Cohorts, which are both highly disciplined units. Discipline has always prevailed.

I miss high school football, yeah I really sucked but it was the closest I ever came to playing Rome Total War, with lines, squares and flanks advancing, and pure brute battle. And getting beat down let me accept the rule of the strong. If your not on the battlefield getting crushed, it becomes harder to accept the rule of the Masters

I did something like this once, I had 4 green squads of Hasati, a general calv, and a squad of Town Watch. The enemy had 4x what I had with calv, archers, and spear men. I was defending the same fort as Macedon and won, ending with more troops than the Gallic had. I would have recorded it, but campaign mode does not record Q_Q.

@ArranS96 lol, I only learned that from some other guy. But sometimes if you use arcade mode online (unless it's a free for all, and there's a unit limit) people will call you a noob, and you suck at the actual game, so there's a heads up. :p

@BlackHawkPictures23 Fatigue is just units becoming tired. Normally, if you have your units charging around all the time, they get tired pretty fast. But in arcade mode you can pretty much charge nonstop.

Generally you should not play on hard unless your skilled at the RTS and dont say oh but im good at command and conquer so that means i can automatically jump into total war and be a pro.No there 2 totally different games.Long story short either dont play hard until you can control your units well enough without them routing fast or play the cheap and easy arcade mode

the prince of macedon is the number stratigic guy. his videos are awsome and he is very skilled. if the noob he faught with crushed more walls he could have surrounded the roman army then when they started routing he could of hacked them down

Isn't it possible to use the ram on more than one spot? With the lack of archers on your side, and the numeric advantage, if Gaul player crashed your walls at more points : that;d be trouble.

best unit to use in an ambush are numidian mercenary cavalry use special ability and turn fire at will on then run when u get close u gallop around them and fire at them they stand no chance =) (use on infantry)

@RogerAlexanderCaesar lmao playing online is way different than playing single player. There are many rules on multiplayer that there are not on single player. Eg. No artillery or no elephants.

I have been playing this game for almost 10 years ive defeated the whole game with Rome (the Julii) 4 times, Carthage 2 times, Egypt 1 time, Britain 1 time, and now im working my way with greece. The entire game is WAY to easy on singleplayer, it is no challenge at all.

A kid can play the singleplayer on Very Hard, blindfolded, and still win.

And if you think you even remotely could beat PrinceofMacedon without having online-experience for years with the game, you're just not using your head.
