  • At least Styx still tours and let Dennis do his own thing and just accept that that's what's best without splitting the whole band up.

  • As unfortunate as it is that the band split, at least it didnt totally end the band unlike some bands where they fought until they all hated each other and the band as a whole and never reformed or worked together again. At least tours and does their thing while Dennis tours and does it his way and they both accept it that way without too much negative rivalry.

  • The things a woman will do for chocolate... Tch

  • "--Yeahhh!!!" My best/fave Styx song...I think?

  • Tommy admits in BTM Rewind that Kilroy Was Here pushed him over the edge, and he was probably heavily self medicated though most of this tour. Him and JY were sick of concept albums/rock operas and just wanted to rock. I like DDY, but those two camps were going in opposite directions, and they were never going to find any common ground. The original five (Tommy, JY, Chucky, John and Dennis) would never play together again after this tour. Shame.

  • him and my dad where friends through highshool which i think is effin awsome

  • I'll tell you, Tommy Shaw is worthy of respect. In 1970, R Dean Taylor recorded "Indiana Wants Me", and that was seriously lacking in the Testicles department. Mr. Taylor, THIS is how you do it!

  • Love 'em! Even Napoleon Skywalker!

  • Saw them with Kansas78 Market square arena..They rocked until Mr.freaking Roboto, shitty music after,I would have split also Dennis thought he was an opera singer the rest of the band Rock n Rolled!!!!

  • lol the bassist and rythm guitar thing during the guitar solo kinda queer ha but i guess that was the 80's

  • Looks just like my husband who passed away :( Love Tommy Shaw

  • @234JUDI so sorry:( Peace to you.

  • Tommy Shaw was... on drugs?..no, certainly not.

  • @fastblackshapes don't know if sarcasm, but yes, he was on coke.

  • @jdlm9 yeah it was sarcasm

  • I can't believe Styx played this song in the year 983

  • @TheRandomCrazyMan yeah man, styx has been around for a while.

  • Shaw looks pretty high in this video...still awesome though

  • Love, this song but it reminds me of Dog the Bounty Hunter when I hear it now.

  • I'll never understand why Dennis thought "Kilroy" was such a great idea. He must have had delusions of grandeur. This video is proof of what these guys have always been best at.

  • Chewbacca plays a mean guitar as well.

  • Two people were hung by the vengeful judge.

  • Excellent luv styx 

  • now THAT ^^^ is good music children. Not Justin bieber.............

  • @MrMAHBOI1 - If you weren't virtually illiterate, you'd realize that I put quotation marks around the word "hits". (See? I did it again.) I grew up listening to rock radio, not American Top 40. Dennis may have written more hit singles, but Tommy wrote the real shit that got played by rock stations for people who don't cower in fear when they hear anything heavier than the schmaltzy, wimpy DDY ballad, "Babe". Tommy couldn't write anything that sappy and pussified if his life depended on it.

  • @chosenfool I am a big Styx fan, and you hit it right on the head with your statement, Tommy was Styx, him and J.Y. anyway their music is what I loved about the band, J.Y. wrote some wicked shit too, Miss America, Snowblind to mention a few, great comment.

  • @chosenfool If these guys werent idiots, there was room for BOTH of them. Yea, Tommy Shaw rocked. Renegade, Blue Collar Man were awesome. And Babe was NOWHERE near DDY's best. Come Sail Away (1st 2 verses before he sold out) and The Best of Times DESTROY Babe. And I mean.. it's NOT close.

But as I said.. there was room for BOTH. It's called PACING. The 2 distinct sounds was why Styx was so badass.

  • Styx!

  • billy madison fuck yeah

  • Man, Tommy Shaw has such a great big voice for a little man, one of the best male rock voices ever. So rich with such a broad range. But, this video is killing me. What's happening at 2:15? And everyone's slick dance moves makes it that much better!! hahaaa!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta love it!

  • tommy shaw looks so young there

  • hell. yes.

  • guy in red jacket must be pre-metallica hetfield

  • @rollandrock99 idk, its so wtf :D

  • what was happening at the end?

  • @rollandrock99 this is from the Caught in the Act video, which follows the "Kilroy was Here" storyline. The band is being arrested by the Majority for Musical Morality because they're playing rock, which is "bad music."

  • anybody who thinks Styx is a corny pop rock/ballad band, all you have to do is listen to this and shut up

  • DDY is NOT Styx! The band had more "hits" written by Tommy Shaw (Crystal Ball, Renegade, Blue Collar Man, Too Much Time On My Hands, Fooling Yourself, Boat On The River [huge hit just about everywhere but the states], Snowblind, Lights). I will say though, that I much prefer Styx with Dennis in the band, even though Tommy was the real draw, IMO.

  • @chosenfool well this is very inaccurate. Dennis wrote SEVEN of the band's nine top twenty hits. How many did Tommy and James write again? Look I'm not a DDY fanboy but that was not right at all. Poser.

  • I believe that Tommy Shaw is"Snowblind" in this performance. It is not his personal best. I I HATE that EVIL stuff! I have lost friends that were REALLY talented.

  • Can't hear over the damn screaming

  • 2:56 is my favorite moment of any concert EVER! i'm 18.

  • ONE WORD:

    EXTREMLYEPIC

  • i like this band.

  • best band to ever live by far!!!!

  • Never noticed how cute Tommy Shaw was

  • Jimmy macelroy

  • this is just genius.

  • @tjrtherocksponge a second Nervous breakdown at the time of KWH?

  • I love this song.It was my life for real 'til I straightened out

  • @tjrtherocksponge So maybe control freak was too strong of a word. I agree that they focused more on the negative in the Behind the Music, but everything they said was still true. You can't forget that ddy lead Styx in a direction that most of the band members weren't too happy about. All of Kilroy Was Here was ddy. That ridiculous show they put on during that tour, all ddy. He just got weird as the years went on, and really started changing up Styx's music style. That's why they broke up.

  • @EmilyAE19 a second nervous breakdown at the time of KWH?

  • @EmilyAE19 Did DDY HAve a second nervous breakdown at the time of KWH?

  • My fave styx song

  • Tommy also reminds me of the guy in Blades of Glory - The Napolean Dynamite dude!

  • For those of you saying ddy is/was styx, go search "styx story" and watch all of it, it's the Styx Behind the Music. I LOVE ddy as a musician, but you can definitely tell by that documentary that he was a real control freak... love his music though.

  • @EmilyAE19 in the same way That Yngwie Malmsteen is a control freak?

DDY is a great musicain, but he is not Styx.. the Panonzzo brothers are Styx...

One could say the same thing about Kevin cronin...but it's a unfounded accusation

  • JAM!!!

  • thumbs up if supernatural brought you here

  • Gowan Sucks!! I love Tommy but no way is the new Styx Lite worth paying good money to go see!!!

  • 3:31

  • They carried him off the stage! Ah! Tommy is so cute! lol

  • what happened at the end? it looks like security started to grab the band members & taking them off the stage sounds like an alarm went off

  • @avatarhammer Probably a stage antic yeah? And then after that they come on for their encore or something.

  • gosh i wish i could have been older when they did their 1996 tour, i was only 1 year old, isn't that sad?

  • pretty gay at the 2:20 mark, but -

    they are millionaires and i'm a dollar-aire - so i can't say nuthin!

  • @decimated550 hahahaha

  • nice

  • oh how ii remember Tommy!

  • Styx.... they could rock em like no other during their hayday.

  • Tommy Shawalker, I am your father.

  • What a fun group they were then

  • James Hetfield in the lead guitar !!!

  • I love how on the beginning, when it's all slow and mellow, how the lead singer kinda hugs his guitar like he really is scared!

  • Luke Skywalker rocking out on his Ibanez AR500 =)

  • love this song but what happend to the end? eny way i love this song1

  • It would be appreciated if someone could post the end of the video

  • like this song it has a kick ass attitude

  • I am so in love with T. Shaw *sigh*

  • @vamlltrm Girl, you gotta stand in line!

  • At the end the band members are being arrested by the Majority for Musical morality. This is part of the "Caught in the act: Kilroy was here" Rock opera they did.

  • John Panozzo was the hardest man to arrest as he was sitting playing the drums. As his bandmates got arrested, he started doing a drum solo. Then the MMM try and stop John and kill one of their own and then John continues with more of the drum solo before being pig piled on by the MMM and made to stop as the MMM pounded on him.

  • this totally rocks. someone put us out of our misery & tell us all what happened at the end??!!! can someone PLEASE post the rest

  • Nothing cheesy about this song.

  • tommy shaw kinda looks like tom petty a little

  • kinda

  • GTA the lost and damned brought me here. i love this song

  • woah, Tommy screams in this one like he does in Shooz.

  • thats rock and roll !! what the hell happened at the end? they were abducted by the blues bros. or the untouchables?

  • I love this song!

  • Tommy & David Spade were separated @Birth. :)

  • why is it cut short at the end? Can you upload "Heavy metal poisoining" from Caught in the act as well?

  • This song was one of my favorites while I was growing up. I bought ever tape they ever had out. These songs bring back memories. I was even a member of the fan club!

  • Damnit where's the rest?!

  • btw whos on the drums? he fuckin rocks

  • RIP john panozzo

  • The Late Great John Ponnozo

  • luke skywalker plays a mean guitar

  • yes, he does. hes the meanest.

  • Oh my god, i never realized that was luke skywalker...now it all makes sense.

  • @spacekadet3 That's JY 1

  • I like how Tommy runs over to the organ and hits that chord on the song's transition...it's a cool effect

  • i love styx! this concert seems like it was really good! i saw styx back in april but of course it wasn't the classic lineup

  • wow guys.

    ddy IS styx

  • @hawilicious7 wrong.

  • @hawilicious7 agreed

  • lawrence gowan is not better than Dennis Deyoung, they are two different stlyes all together. Dennis was good at what he did and Lawrence is good at what he does.

  • totally agree

  • I am glad some one agrees with me..

  • one more thing dennis is still asome but why did he quit

  • i think he got sick and wanted to take some time off. at that point the rest of the band wanted to be more rock and roll and ddy wanted to be more of a pop broadway musical. when you have a talented band the singer isnt as important as he thinks he is. ask steve perry.

  • Dennis DeYoung got fired by JY. He fell ill with a chronic fatigue syndrome like ailment caused by a damaged nerve in his mouth after he had a wisdom tooth extracted leaving him light sensitive (hence why he wears sunglasses alot these days). His new solo disc ROCKS alot. Journey flopped big time without Steve Perry and Steve Smith knew Journey wasn't Journey without Steve Perry. Genesis at least stopped after Calling All Stations tanked with Ray Wilson on vocals after he replaced Phil Collins.

  • neil shon was going to ask steve perry back before he found that guy on youtube. singers unfortunatly loose their voice before the others loose their musical ability. although i have seen ddy recently and he sounds great. roger waters cant sing at all anymore. ac dc needs to hire jesse james dopre from jackyl soon.

  • search for "styx story" here on youtube it's the behind the music

  • I have just been one of thier concernt. Lawrence is very entergetic and dennis is just stands thier. THE GIG IS UP I LOVE THIS SONG

  • You're entitled to your opinion but I love them both. They are both Great Musicians & things can't stay the same forever. This change was a Good one! They couldn't have found anyone better than Lawrence to play with Styx now. Cheers!
