1-The game isn't slow, unless you're a basketball fan used to fast small-court games with lots of scores.

2-It's rare for a player to be sent off for faking.

3-it's only done in this game because it's the only major team sport that it can be done in. American football, baseball, basketball, hockey can't.

Like I said, it's just a cheap way to get a free kick or slow down the game, especially when the other team has momentum.

I've never seen as much blatant faking as I have in soccer. It's almost like it's part of the culture or game strategy - forcing fouls to get penalty shots.
