Why do people enjoy shooting parrots and surgeonfish in hawaii so much. Are there no grouper, mackerel, mahi, tuna, hogfish of snapper? Or are they just overfished? I've had parrot here in florida i didn't find them that great.

@cali2400 There are grouper(Roi), we shot one today in fact. They really arent eaten due to the prevalance of cigutoxin in thier flesh. The mackerel here are very small and more suited for net or line fishing, No hogfish. Mahis, tunas, and most of the snapper are more suited to bluewater diving, though some suprises await the greenwater fisherman.
