@cthyao this is based on laminar flow, whereby in a micro-nano channel, the fluids stick to a path parallel to the channel walls, so by virtue of sequence of flow you would get this kind of distribution. However, this animation is a little too good. Depending on the type of solutions being used and channel lengths, a certain degree of mixing would occur. A more interesting experiment is the seperation of solid particles suspended in a flowing liquid.
