  • how much are they now?

  • @adamanFTtitwell Personally I don't think they are worth any more than £200. Its a good little toy to mess about with but can be a bit limiting as the sound range isn't that vast. Great for adding little filler sounds, bleeps and basslines. A beginner is likely to be disappointed and is better off with a Juno6.

  • @adamanFTtitwell they can fetch between about £90-£900, source, ebay

  • bladerunner anyone?

  • Kutiman got me here. Anyone else is in the same case? :D

  • Came here from Kutiman's project. Very cool instrument!

  • Hehe , when i hear this i think on PsyTrance :)

  • THE POWER OF MY ASS

  • that thing looks and sounds fucking amazing

  • YIEEEE ANALOG SOUND!!

  • he sure knows how to play with the knobs!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @andree1991 you have to be more specific if you want real answers to that question, there was so much stuff in the 80s that sounded like crocketts theme, I need more clues in order to help you out but I bet I own the track you are on about....

  • @W0r5tCaseSc3nar10 I found it,by clicking every single video of a youtube user ,he had like 320....the song i was looking for is Mamma Gamma by the alan parsons project. Thanks for the help though........do you have it?

  • @andree1991 YES!! lol

  • @andree1991 maybe something by jean michel jarre?

  • i know its old but i still want one

  • 0:20 sounds like The Cars- Moving in Stereo

  • Foundation :))

    gadboa

  • man i am so gonna get this next christmas, practising piano right now too :D

  • woow...................

  • I like the bit where he plays the Roland SH-101 Analog Synthesizer .

  • @Eletromanisme I like it more when he stops.

  • @Tyrelcorp166 lol yeh, i was just being an attention seeking copycat bitch like everyone else : )

  • i have owned this thing for god 5- 6 years and still syncing the LFO to the beat is beyond me. i always have to beat match it by ear. has anyone tried to use the gate or trigger from a 707 or 606 to get the LFO to line up? should be simple but it never works. i don't know of too many other people with an SH to see if their LFO gets synced or not. if that LFO could get on beat it would be seriously deadly. let me know if you have seccess in linking up the main LFO slider to CV. (i have the MSY-2)

  • looks like a toy but sounds soo good

  • this is pretty awesome :) I LOVE retro stuff :D

  • This thing doesnt have built in speakers does it? If not what do I plug it into to get a sound?

  • @Chiyamaka Like most pro keyboards (other than pro arrangers, which do have internal stereo speakers) it has 1/4" phone out which goes to your amp or mixer. You can use headphones too.

  • @Chiyamaka And amplifier with speakers? or if its buildin amplified wich i think it is just a Speaker. (if im not mistaken)

  • @DonPulpito nope.. thats actually an analogue synth buddy.

  • dude you could play dr who with that sound arrangment

  • goose-flesh... ^^ I'm happy to own a JX3P yet dead unhappy for it's partly damaged and nobody around fixes them ;..(

  • I know it came with a grip and shoulder strap, but I couldn't imagine wanting to walk and dance around stage while carrying that precious piece of machinery

  • Keytar???

  • pot să fac manele pe el ?

  • @DonPulpito don't talk silly, open one up it is all analogue parts with a digital sequencer.

  • its kinda sad people depend on VSTs these days instead using the raw power of analogue.Nothing beats analogue.

  • @maltadude nothing beats a real analog MS-20 or Jupiter... but trust me... those are really expensive these days =)

  • I got one and so happy. Sometimes you can't imagine how amazing tunes you get with this little shit. One of the best mono synth I ever got.

  • omg me and my nigga need one of those!!!

  • That's down! How much?

  • @blackpleg28 oh my garos we need one of those foo

  • thankz 4 sharing

  • German are the best for EBM. Nothing to say.

  • Is anyone else reminded of Kraftwerk? And yes, I am well aware that they used analog synths...

  • Help! - I have fallen and I cannot get up from my keyboard!

  • i had the grey version!! (without guitar appendice). The problem with old Roland like the sh 101 is the bad quality of the electronic contacts...But the sound can be terrible!!!!! good for acid music!!

  • hey! Devo used some of these in 1982, ive never seen one for sale anywhere, where did you get this one?

  • i got one of these for $10, played with it and recorded 6 albums, then sold it to a techno kid for $400. i didn't have the handgrip, and it was gray, but i used the he77 out of it.

  • haahahah

  • Excuse me,i've been looking for a song for more than 7 years but i dont know its name,i remember it included a synthetizer and electric guitar music and a little of drums..it was a kinda old music (just music no lyrics or nothing) 90's or 80's.can someone help me please? it kinda sounded like:cua cua cua-cua cuararan cua cua ua ua!! tararan!!! then drums:tum tum tum tururum then cuan cuan cuan etc..i know it looks stupid but please if anyone knows please let me know, thank you, it was just music

  • serious?

  • @andree1991 That one is really good!

  • @andree1991 ----- maybe if you record yourself humming or singing the melody or the beat or whatever.... and then upload the video... maybe then.

  • @saulocisneros haha really?oh man im working on it thanks

  • What is tht handle? you can strap it on? you should do a demo where you hold it with that lol! just for kicks?

  • The handle has pitch bend and modulation controls. The machine runs on batteries and can be worn with a guitar strap. Lore has it that it was released at the time roller skating was all the rage and was apparently designed to be played when skating!

  • while skating? that is plain crazy! lol

  • @Guakingo I would love to see someone playing this one whilst skating, and struggling with his cables that connect the synth with some speakers, because if you play it, you also want to hear it, i guess? :-)

  • good one for under 12 years old

  • it seems like depeche mode........

  • min. o:45

  • @Casty95 Not surprised - they used several of these SH-101's.

  • Mr crowley !!!!

  • It sounds excellent. I wish my DX11or my DW8000 had all those knobs and sliders for real time tweaking. I bought a Yamaha CS 5 recently just for the sole purpose of having a synth with more real time tweaking options.

  • tables are way over rated...

  • So are umbrella stands.

  • Whats that thing sticking out for?

  • @mattyfatsarama

its a mod grip that allows you to hold the board like a guitar for live performance

  • for live performance. you could hold it like a guitar.

  • It is a removable vibrating part.

  • sit on it............... lol

  • its a sexy synth

  • sh 101 in red is very nice!

  • can you make a fx. hardstyle or techno lead with that? :D

  • You certainly could. Just gotta be creative!

This is like the MicroKorg, made years before...

But in this case - true classic analogue?

Great collection piece! I'd like to have one...

can it run on batteries, btw?

  • me and my friend want to start an industrial band i would need 3 or 2 of those or something similar and drums and 2 guitars

  • Well if you you don't already have any of those things would you be able to use them if you had them? And what DO you have?

  • yea my friend has one

  • to mrljthedj:

ever hear of the Korg MS 2000

  • nope man. the ms2000 is 100% digital, no analog components. Its called virtual analog, meaning it (tries to) emulate the sound of an analog synth using computer models.

  • Analog sounds are just like soft butter; smooth and flowing.

  • I wanna have one

  • THE POWER OF THE A N A L O G !!!!!!!!!!!

  • ino wxactly wat u mean synths arnt like they used 2 be some1 needs to invent a digital/analog synth

  • they already have. It's called the Dave Smith Evolver. There are a lot of synths that have analog+digital sound generation

  • nice shit

  • PHAT !!! :-)

  • big noise for such a little thing! :D

  • if i had one of these, i would totally use it like a keytar with the strap and handle and all that haha.

  • I like it!!!!

  • I just bought my young son one of these at a garage sale on my way home from work, but I can't get it to make any sound... no speakers?

  • how much did you pay?

are there no head phone jacks on it?

  • it comes with a headphone OP

  • yeah you probably need some monitors for it.

  • are you sure it's exactly the same model?

    that's right, no speakers.

you should get your young son a Roland Juno-DI and put that SH-101 on ebay - they're exceptionally rare and valuable!

  • every synthersizer i have bought needs external speakers, usually a 6.3mm jack from the synth to a speaker system.

  • @funkeddown

no speakers bro..this is NOT a toy

  • what is this used for??

  • it is used for music :-)

  • no its used for awesome music

  • That's right, but I think there are probably a few people who use it for bad music anyway :P

  • mainly bass patterns. acid and techno

  • is this the synth making these sounds straight up or are there other things plugged into it to add to the effect

  • it is the pure sound of a cool analog synthesizer :D

  • i want one so bad

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit that thing sounds so fat !!!

  • Thats why Valdez Brantley uses this a Minimoog, and a Moog Source for Key Bass on Usher's Truth tour

Because those keyboards have a super fat sound!

  • Comment removed

  • can't say I do XP

  • no shit u fucking idiot

  • ilu

  • Too much expensive for what is

  • hi i'm selling a roland jupiter 8 on ebay right now only 2,000 where ever made it has fat sounds 6/20/09! i love you vid !have a good day

  • anyone got any advice on what synth to get for a first buy?

  • depends on what you want to do with it.

  • The original Microkorg is a nice VA synth that is designed to look and feel analogue, and give you good practice at analogue modelling. Sounds great too. Got mine second hand for less than £180. Brand new probably about £300-£350.

  • What`s that tune between 0:46 and 0:52?

  • Synths are so sweet

  • Van halen? 1984 intro? O.o

  • "This video demo is not a musical statement, only demonstration of the sound possibilities of the instrument."

  • I am glad that someone aside from me caught that. Now i am curious as to how much it costs.

  • well idk myself but i once asked retrosound what would be a good budget synth to start with and he reccomended the sh-101 if i wanted a monophonic synth

  • ...xpez fails at life...

  • My favorite Part 0:46 and 2:42

    old school rocks

  • very 80's

  • I like the fact that its Red

  • i like the fact that it's a cool sounding synt

  • wow powerful sounds from that colorful eighties technology

  • Thank you for nice videos :)

  • thx :)

  • a wristwatch in 2009 ????

  • thank you :)

    I use a M-Audio Delta soundcard.

  • so signal is going straight to delta :)) wow without any pre amp channel strips am i right ?

sorry for my couriosity but im in this kind of moment which i cant decide whch audio interface to choose :)) i think im gonna go for RME anyway thanks for reply :))

  • direct to the delta soundcard, no preamp

  • Hey retro, wich one has phatter bass or is the better bass synth, the juno 60 or this one? Also,Can you play the 60 on unison mode like the 106?I had a 106 years ago.

    Thanks.love your vids,inspiration!!!

  • Hi!

you can play the Juno-60 in unisono mode (test mode). The 101 bass is more clean but very deep and thick, the Juno-60 ist more like a Jupiter8 warm and thick. Both synths are great for bass but very different in sound.

  • Have you seen/ heard yourself in the Kutiman thru-you #3 video?

  • yes

    thanks :)

  • what video is this?

  • ._.

  • I cannot stop listening to this. Excellent sound! Makes me want to get into synthesizers. Thank you for this!

  • thank you :)

  • Do you know where I can get cables for this keyboard. I got one from the 80's and my dad stole the cables to it and I need new ones.

  • How much would one of these cost?

    I am

going to start making electro music and i could use one of these

  • 450-600 Euro

  • exelent !!! good video

  • thanks :)

  • 0 : 45 was pretty cool too !! though im more thinking of first buying a sh-09... i'll see

    but good job! =)

  • thank you

  • Use just the square wave on the source mixer. On the VCO, set the pulse width all the way up and set it to LFO mode. Then on the Modulator, bring up the LFO/Click Rate up to right at or slightly below half way up, and youve got yourself a nice lead sound ;)

  • thanks

  • whats with the handle o thats right

  • Modulations Grip

  • Good sir, do you mean to tell me this doubles as some sort of crude Keytar??

  • is that Soulwax's E Talking I hear?

  • Great stuff, excellent.

  • i want an sh-101 but i'm not sure it would fit in my room...its just so phat...

  • ;-)

  • Hahaha. Clever :D I have a blue one. :)

  • love this thing, I might get one. just cause I'm so pissed off by software and my Korg M3. I can't get anywhere without hearing crap all over the bass sounds which I'd never consider using... I need a proper synth just so I can work without having to wade through crap presets, plus it's all there, no hidden menus! digital is driving me insane

  • ...buy a real analog synth! ;-)

  • ...sell all your organs on the black market to afford it! ;-(

  • I had a Roland SH101,Roland JX3P and a Korg Sigma..and I sold it all !!

    And for what ??

So I could by a new computer !!...somebody please kick me in my ass !!

  • *kick*

  • if you ever want to sell it please contact me :)

    greetings from iceland.

  • I actually bought this one on ebay from the man himself, sorry, im not selling... :)

  • np. i bought one few days ago from ebay, Red with mod grip!

    :)

  • how much do they go for?...

  • seen prices from 400-1400.

bought mine (red, with mod, origianl box, very good condition) for 1000 usd.

  • awsome synthie

  • red long before nord leads ; )

  • What's that off to side? The keytar like neck.

  • it's a pitch bend :)

  • My SH 101 is in the post right now, I cant wait!!

    Cant conrol my excitement!

  • Cool!

    Have fun!

  • ohh. so worthy of it's "sh ness"

  • Do you know where I might be able to find one of these? I've only found two on the UK's ebay. Is there a good site to find older synths?
