The idea behind the hand-wheel that Uhaul has is that it can fit both the 1-7/8 and 2 inch hitch balls. With as many customers as Uhaul has, not everyone is going to have the same size hitch. The wheel tightens around whichever size ball you have. Uhaul also states that it's IMPOSSIBLE to over tighten the hand-wheel, so there isn't a set tightness you have to worry about. If you look carefully there is a lever that pushes up against the hand-wheel, which prevents it from working loose.
As far as i am concerned those screw on couplers should be banned. They can work loose, looking at the video there is no locking mechanism to stop it from coming loose. In Australia i have not seen one one of those hitches for a long time. I use a spring loaded coupler that you pull on the handle lower it onto the ball release the spring loaded handle and then lock the safety catch
I wouldn't generally fondle the coupler; it's full of grease.
Also, a loose hand-wheel looks just the same as a tight one. You also don't know just how tight to make it. A lever with a hitch lock is a better idea.
What about the chains? Lights? Stabilizing jacks? This video starts out OK, but for 6 and a half minutes it's not very informative.
you forgot to inspect the towing bar on the truck
