You can start by trying out programs like Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D, 3D Studios Max, of course you could also go to school.

im doing film and digital art at uni, i can use after effects - but honestly - so far they havnt even gone near teaching us anything like this. i guess ill use 3d max - if herd about that. i think its more self taught than anything

they dont teach cause its not 1 man job,

for blue/green screen you have 3d models, textures, light blendings, then special effects, fractals, again light blendings, bla bla bla... and all that has to go in 3d space with such perfection that eye can be fooled, but then again they got well paid by WB so no problem for reasources  there :P
