That's because they hardly added to crash's gameplay- he played the same as he did in the original. They need to give crash abilities without taking away the original gameplay- if you have to scrap a majority of the gameplay, you're acting out of desperation, and unless you pull it off incredibly well it's going to suck. Why do you think no one liked legend of zelda 2? As a sidescroller, it was a good game. But it was to different- the name is what stopped it from becoming a classic.

It' would've grow into what this is and beyond (Titans or not). Zelda 2 also had unjust criticism. Games should be enjoyed for themselves. The name should never, EVER control what a game is. Crash can and should be able to have a moveset and variety and other ideas put into gameplay, not be confined.
Innovation should ADD TO the formula. In this case, they ripped apart the original gameplay until it was unrecognizable. Megaman is a good example as to why this works- they ADD to the game, but don't subtract what already works. They don't take away megaman's gun in favor of a combo system.
And if you give a series such a great style as the original PS1 crash bandicoot games, you don't revert it to some sort of crappy new-age cartoon style with 60's comicbook style sound effects.

Well, I don't want him to talk, because that'd be weird, and I like how he can communicate without real words. Like the story of Smash Bros Brawl, except Crash babbles. It gives him a new dimension of personality which makes him more interesting then being a simple mime. And yeah, Crash needed a new moveset and while some stuff like crawling and sliding are gone (which could be useful in the new games), it's not worthless. The Titans were also a fitting idea, as the ND games used a similar idea.

WHY IS CRASH TALKING? THATS LIKE TOM AND JERRY TALKING. Which they did in a movie in the 90's and raped my childhood. Crash occasionally said some shyt, the gameplay was great in the first four games, and the story telling, personalities, and comedy was great in Twinsanity. If we could mix those two together, we might have the perfect game back.

Why does everyone hate this game? It doesn't make sense. If Crash started out this way (or in the 90s), people would love it, but why hate it? I love this game because Crash can fight and Jack monsters. There's nothing wrong with that. Crash shouldn't just be about collecting crystals and spinning enemies. They changed the game style, because the old one was already used over 6times... After Twinsanity, Sierra started to get negative feedback about that the games were boring because they did'nt have anything new.
okay we know that the games couldnt (and shouldnt of) stayed the same format as ND but unlike with twinsanity which imo was a really good game cott etc has failed to capture any of the spirit or charm that what made crash so popular. Following TwinSanity's footsteps would basically mean just added minor minigames here and there with the same basic gameplay and free-roaming. Not a revolution. lol i got ps2 (the slim one)and when i was 7 years old i had ps1 i used to play mostly crash series (1,2,3,bash,team racing)..all these coming out now for ps2 suck a bit(e.g. tag team racing)twin sanity is ok..and this one seems ok...crash games for ps1 don't work on my ps2,and i wanted 2 play so much,so i had 2 buy a ps1 console hehe (lol)
yertalert, your right about one thing, it is the gameplay and the fun that's important, that's why i was so shocked to see these comments, the new games are MUCH better then the old ones, my gaming philosiphy has always been that beside level design and storyline how powerful you are in the gameplay is one of the most important things in a game so crash has jacking and spyro has a bunch of elemental powers, compared to the old games these are on a whole other level above.

Same. Naughty Dog, and TWOC were good. But the people who made TWOC made Twinsanity and I thought that was one of the best; great storyline. But then they sold it to the guys who made CTTR and COTT. Which SUCKED.

I'm fine with a graphics advancement, but they need to revert the gameplay, character designs, and overall style to their original forms.
Sometimes simple is better. Crash shouldn't use punching combos to defeat enemies, he should spin. Just spin, and that is all that should happen.

@mariosuckcrashrules No, I myself have played the previous Crash games back before the new ones came out and I have to say they were more fun to me but that doesn't make the new ones shit.
Just because something is newer doesn't make it complete and total shit. Stop with this nostalgic bullshit because it is so pointless, stop living in the past and accept the future or your just gonna be miserable your whole life because life will always change and nothing stays the same.

Why does everyone hate this game? It doesn't make sense. If Crash started out this way (or in the 90s), people would love it, but why hate it? I love this game because Crash can fight and Jack monsters. There's nothing wrong with that. Crash shouldn't just be about collecting crystals and spinning enemies. Crash has much more potential than that.

oh, JUST SHUT UP ALREADY! do you know how annoying it is when you go to see crash vids and over half of them have people whining about how bad the game is, is game isn't bad, will people just grow up and realze the new games are good, things don't have to stay the same to be good, things should change to be better, twinsanity isn't that much of a change, crash was the same and free raoming is just for the levels, not the gameplay, the new games refresh the series and don't let it become stale.

thank you for the soft reply, it was just an outburst. i also disagree, i think that a true crash fan would like the new games because a real fan would stick with crash no matter what, as long as he's reasonably good, the great things in the new games are the titans and jacking, crash can punch and kick, and all the chracters have more developed personalitys, so they're not all sane or great personalitys, but it's does more for story, and it's not as little kid oriented as you think.

okay dude, thats your opinion I still personally hate crash from COTT onwards, the new games just dont appeal to me at all. Maybe if they diddnt include crash bandicoot then the game would be okay. but nope they had to ruin a series of games that was once awesome.

that's what i can't understand, why does it have to stay the same to be awesome? the new games are great their own way, if crash would have stayed the same, then i would turn my back on the series because what is the use of buting a new game if it's almost the same gameplay as the old games, it gets stale. actually, that's the biggest reason why i'm not a big fan of mainstream mario games, they're too similar to each other. i respect your opinion, but IMO, crash is still awesome.

They changed the game style, because the old one was already used over 6times... After Twinsanity, Sierra started to get negative feedback about that the games were boring because they did'nt have anything new.

okay we know that the games couldnt (and shouldnt of) stayed the same format as ND but unlike with twinsanity which imo was a really good game cott etc has failed to capture any of the spirit or charm that what made crash so popular. (not to mention dozens of other flaws). Take a look at mario for example, they've revolutionised the games whilst keeping them awesome and staying true to its title. Unless your a kid or who hasnt played crash before then this game will suck to the true fans.

@panzerblitz53 If they were going to revolutionize the series, they were going to have to do many large changes. That's was revolution and it's spin-off words mean. Following TwinSanity's footsteps would basically mean just added minor minigames here and there with the same basic gameplay and free-roaming. Not a revolution. How is this game a disgrace if it adds combat and a new twist to the gameplay (jacking)?

lol i got ps2 (the slim one)and when i was 7 years old i had ps1 i used to play mostly crash series (1,2,3,bash,team racing)..all these coming out now for ps2 suck a bit(e.g. tag team racing)twin sanity is ok..and this one seems ok...crash games for ps1 don't work on my ps2,and i wanted 2 play so much,so i had 2 buy a ps1 console hehe (lol)

yertalert, your right about one thing, it is the gameplay and the fun that's important, that's why i was so shocked to see these comments, the new games are MUCH better then the old ones, my gaming philosiphy has always been that beside level design and storyline how powerful you are in the gameplay is one of the most important things in a game so crash has jacking and spyro has a bunch of elemental powers, compared to the old games these are on a whole other level above.

Same. Naughty Dog, and TWOC were good. But the people who made TWOC made Twinsanity and I thought that was one of the best; great storyline. But then they sold it to the guys who made CTTR and COTT. Which SUCKED.

twinsanity is o.k.... its just sooo buggy! I started playing it today and the bugs are killing me (quite literally). I believe the ones naughty dog made where the greatest.... the best and just... well, amazing!
