To those who are saying that he was an idiot etc, if you lived in that era, when there was no challenge system and video replay options, it was common place for players to have outbursts. Playing a match at that level is a high stress matter and one wrong call can cost a player the match so it was understandable to blow off some steam. McEnroe was an excessive one, that's true, but it did bring in viewers to the game, even non-tennis players.
