  • You gotta be brave to do turns in second inside a room that small! Awesome!

  • LOL, I wish I could do that many turns! :D

  • lolol. wow. RELAX. THEY'RE OBVIOUSLY JUST MUCKING AROUND. what, cos they're dancers they can't do any of it without the utmost seriousness otherwise it'll promote poor form? omg, obviously they don't do that in class or when they're performing! they're just having a bit of fun! besides, being able to do that many turns while just mucking about is quite amazing.

  • Oh God. I love Randy. I love these guys! Everytime I go to the ballet, it takes my breath away. The lithe steps, the agility these men posses. I have one question though...

Where in the world is CONNOR WALSH?! I'm in love with him, really I am. I just saw him in La Sylphide on June 5 and the Nutcracker and Cinderella before that. The man is gorgeous. I just wish there were more about him online. :(

Hopefully, someday, I can get him to sign my program. Until then, I'll admire him from afar. :)

  • if a girl is a ballerina is a boy a ballerino?! :O

  • Hey Acemanjones : Have you ever been these kid's age? There just doing what ever other kids their age will do : playfully chalenging each others! some other their age will do other things a lot less gracefull and a lot more degrading!

This is "YOUTUBE" not the BBC!

  • AcemanJones you need to get over yourself...seriously...just cuz your carrers over and theirs is just beginning doesnt mean you have to try and find some little thing wrong with everything..come on!! its childish and its annoying

  • that was really cool, amazing. you should try a brasilian board. you will do even beatter pirouttes. just give it a go.

  • that was pretty sick! but i do say i have to agree with AcemanJones because if they did land in a good position, it would be amazing!

  • AcemanJones, just stop bashing people, k?

  • I'm not bashing people, I'm pointing out distinctions that make or break a dancer in the real world.

  • I think these guys have already made it into the dance world.

  • That may be true and it may be not. Either way, it doesn't make their turns in good form or ending in a good position. That may be true and it may be not. • OMG!... Wow beautiful!

  • none of those 3 attempts were in good form or ended in a good position.

  • Ya these guys are probably better than you anyway.

  • That may be true and it may be not. Either way, it doesn't make their turns in good form or ending in a good position.

  • i can only do 5

  • the moste importante it to stop in nice position ;)

    cool vidio!

  • omg the second guy moves so fast as he finishes you can hardly see him turn! its amazing.

wish i could pirouette like that.

  • i cant fucking believe people post corrections as responses on youtube when it obvious some of these dancers are proffesionals... like sofian sylve.... certain people should not be allowed to post... or breathe!!

  • Lol that was awesome. I was watching one of Polina Semionova and there were people critiquing her performance!!! I mean are you serious?!? She was a principal at 18, I'm sure she's got it together.

  • This mentality leads to a culture of "celebrity", instead of culture based on talent or merit. Just because someone's a prinicpal doesn't mean they've "got it together" in every single performance or are without room for criticism...not saying I'm better or have corrections for Polina or Sylvie in particular, I'm just saying.

  • I believe the word that you are looking for is idolization. While there is always room for criticism, I believe you should consider this video in its context: A playful contest amongst peers. That way we don't succumb to the cultivation of "Armchair Generalism."

  • Yes, ok, but it's in no way a "pirouette" competition. I mean, they're sharing a pair of legwarmers pulled over their standing leg, they travel, it's just spinning. And since it's from Houston Ballet, I think people expect a certain level of confidence that this is the real deal of performing level work, not just farting around in the dressing room.

  • I see. So your real disappointment is with the title of the video. You were expecting a high quality recording of an actual turning competition under the auspices of the Houston Ballet. Of course utilizing the rules of turning as ratified by the IBF or International Ballet Federation.

  • I believe you have either missed or chosen to ignore the spirit in which this video was posted. These are two performers for the Houston Ballet, who spend 40 hours a week to hone their art. An art which is certainly more broad than the aesthetic sin of "spinning" rather than "turning". Many professionals after years of work actually come to realize that both aesthetic dynamics are appropriate in different occasions, and extract different emotional responses which are equally valid.

  • It is the other, numerous facets of Ballet and specifically the art of dance, that dancers must explore. Pirouettes are a transient in the scope of the enjoyment one can get from dance and must be given the same attention that fleeting entertainment deserves. Like the many opinions of the previous commenters it is merely to say "Wow, how fun!"

  • What about those posts that read, "Wow, I can only do a triple" or "I wish I could do it like that"? I mean, would you post a video of somebody doing a triple tour en l'air and flaunt how incredibly advanced his skill was - if he was hanging from wires?

  • @AcemanJones

old dogs should just be put to sleep. you serve no purpose now.

  • @1etiole Wow. Somebody's really having fun trolling me. I must still be stuck in your craw. Maybe I said something or did something that was a little too truthin' for you at some point, hmm?

  • @AcemanJones truthin'.................your true class comes out. lol.

bitter old men jealous that they will never dance on stage again. i feel for you. maybe try taking a walk or a hobby. shuffle board maybe. find some positivity in life after dancing and you will see the positivity in others work.

  • @1etiole Wow, you're so grounded and spiritual. When you're done with your career with the National Ballet of Germany that is not Hamburg, dear, you should totally apply for the job of Dalai Lama.

  • @AcemanJones you know me. i hardly think so. you suggested hamburg. there are many more big cities than just hamburg guess again. i explained the staatsopera / national theatre situation before. its too complex. just try to be more positive, life is too short . try to have a positive affect on others. no ill will to you. watch the videos and give a compliment and a criticism. good luck.

  • @1etiole I suggested Hamburg because you said Nat Ballet of Ger, and that's Hamburg. But that's not where you dance. Is it? No.

  • @1etiole PS- I just love how you troll me and follow it up by reminding me to be more positive. Pot, meet very fat kettle.

  • Oh my gosh! This video is really good.

    :)

It is so cool how they are messing around (Not really, just having fun) and they still dance like they are in a performance!

    Great job.

  • damn!!! wow....

  • nice

  • Hm, curious, if you look on the checkered tiles they're standing on, you'd see that they've moved A LOT during the turn, how is it that they still kept their balance? Good turns nevertheless

  • make sure you turn your head fast enough. otherwise it was good if you don't turn your head fast enough you'll get dizzy and lose your balance. one other little thing try keeping your arms in first, put a tiny bit of tension into the position so that when you're turning you don't have to think about them

  • omg you are correcting professional houston ballet dancers. shut up and work on your own, they cant possibly be that good.

  • lmao!! I was thinking the same thing.

  • they were good, but turning in coupe doesnt count as a piroutte. also the second guy was awesome. his second turns were the shyt.

  • pirouette --noun

    1. a whirling about on one foot or on the points of the toes, as in ballet dancing.

  • He´s good
