  • 909 drum machine, Juno synth and a 303- that is what you need to make a tune like this.

  • Where does that 'Where they hiding' sample come from- cabaret voltaire use the full version of it in 1982 on 'Yashar'. The sample goes 'There's 50 billion people on earth, where they hiding'?

  • Is it a Cabaret Voltaire sample ( Yashar) at the beginning of the track?

  • Is it? I was wondering where that was from!

  • It looks like!...

  • @RealFreshBlog yes that is a sample from the older version of CV's yashar.

  • Comment removed

  • actually no Cabaret sample.s. all was played & programmed & reverse Edits on Reel to Reel tape..

I did this in R&S studios late 88's// under the name "Ghentlon"

Then found out later was released on KMS as another name, with no credit to me..

    thank R&S for that.. TYPICAL...

ANYway glad it's up on youtube for all to hear..

    ENJOY

    Cisco Ferreira

  • @ciscoadvent I think their talking about the 'where they hiding' vocal sample which was featured in Cab Vol's Yashar circa 1982. Trying to find where that came from myself.

  • @messthetics C.V sampled the voice from a tv serie called THE OUTTER LIMITS. The name of that episode is: The demon with the glass hand. The voice: Robert Culp. It's a classic! "There's 70 billion people of Earth, where are they hiding?" That is the phrase, in this track that sampled the last part. ;)

  • @ciscoadvent Men you rock! and that´s some f***ing class btw

  • @RUR2006 yeap... it's a Cabaret Voltaire sample... and the track it's YASHAR... yeap my friend... you're right ;)

  • still cant believe this was made in 1988. top shelf material right here.

  • @ElasticMinds I agree, this shit would bounce in the club today, amazing he made such a advanced tune with all the trix up his sleeve they use today at that time. I mean it sounds very wellpoduced and the beat is heavy compared to most other tunes made at that time.

  • jack your body!!!!

  • Great track.... apart from the crap fx someone has put over the top... why put repetitive shit on an organic production.... looks like I will have to dig out the record and up it myself :)

  • Very, very nice...This Techno plays hard!

KMS Records came out with some dope jams including Blake Baxter too.

  • Absolutely superb nice one for this :D

  • DETROIT TECHNO

  • i still dont believe they made this in 88...

  • Such great music :) Im just 2 years older than this tune and its still better than 1415647 tunes that came out latly... Greatings from Bosnia and Herzegovina :)

  • Incredicble to think was 1988!! Genius is an often overused word, but KS is nothing short of a musical God!!

  • Aberystwyth 1990. Thanks ;)

  • OMG ! I have not heard this in 21 years.

I heard this in June 1988 on a pirate radio (PCRL in Birmigham UK) and did not know who made this or could not track it down until today . THANK YOU FOR THE POST I have ben after this track for years !!(DJ tranzy D)

  • Very happy to have helped you!

  • @tranzyd It's amazing, because I'm 20 years old.. born and bred in Montréal, Ottawa and Toronto. This is the first time I hear this track, and stumbled upon it on youtube today.

I've spent the last couple years exploring the roots of music I love, and here we are discovering music from two sides. I was born in 89, and it took me 2o years to find this track, too.

The old school vinyl community on youtube is something to be really, really thankful for.

    Cheers!

  • @tranzyd U're a liar !! In 1988, there wasn't computers so he can't did this tune. Cause Fruity Loops didn't exists.

  • @xXHardStyleZXx troll

  • You said it!

  • @lancer808606 CLASSIC! DETROIT DETROIT!!!

  • SUPERB TRAX! DETROIT DETROIT!!!!!!

  • Nice track!

  • one of the 3 magicians !

    :)

  • 3 Magicians?

  • Kevin Saunders, Juan Atkins, Derek May... the originators of techno in Detroit

  • Ahh cool thanks.

  • Beautiful

  • A true classic! This track barely aged.

  • Amazing.

  • it is ...

  • ein sehr sehr schöner remix........

  • Ask Renaat (R+S) about Derrick May, long story! 3Phase "Der Klang der Familie" was stolen - that I know first hand. Obviously I'm not uploading any music that I didn't create myself or have the rights to LOL

  • I have only the R+S one and I *think* this is the "groove wont stop rmx". The r+s track is exactly whats playing in this clip. Advent told me the whole story of this release a few years ago in a long chat.

  • Well, if you could upload it that would be great.

As for the energy flash release on transmat, the original pressing clearly has "licensed from R&S records" on it, so I wouldn't exactly consider that stealing...

  • The track that is playing here in this clip is one produced by Cisco. He is not credited on the record obviously. Thats also why it was never repressed. Whether the labels on the record are on the wrong side I don't know! I go by the music.

  • Well if you have both of them then maybe you could upload them so we could compare? Or distinguish which track the audio is truly representing. Other wise we just have to assume this is "Tranzister" and not "the groove that won't stop (remix)".

  • No the artist here is Advent and the track on the "Techno 1" compilation is KMS+A.Forest (this is what tambian88 was referring to. If you don't believe me I don't really care lol but I work closely with Advent and Beltram and some label they release on so that is enough reference I guess.

  • Let's not get confused, the TRACK here is "Tranzister", not the "groove that won't stop (remix)" -- which is the one Advent apparently produced. I'm not trying to defend or attack anyone here, I'm just trying to sort the facts.

  • This track was made by Advent (Cisco), not Saunderson or anyone else. It was rightfully released on R+S. There is a bit of tradition stealing tracks without licensing with these early Detroit labels, same as transmat (Derrick May) released 3Phase and Beltram without license.

  • See Tambian's post below... I think he's sorted it out.

  • The Saunderson/ A.Forest track "Tranzistor The Force" is on the "Techno 1" compilation. The track on KMS 14 (in this clip) is by Advent.

  • The Advent release on R&S has a note on discogs saying the track "here we go" appears as a remix of "the groove that won't stop" on KMS. The release in this video does in fact have a remix of "the groove that won't stop" -- but this came out in 1988 as opposed to the advent's "here we go" on R&S which came out in 1989.

  • Yes this makes perfect sense. After Saunderson relesed this without giving Cisco a deal he (Advent) re-issued it on R+S when he moved to Belgium. With transmat it was the other way, first R+S/ Tresor released "Energy Flash" and "Der klang der Familie" and Derrick just bootleged it without license. Both times the same mindset: Saunderson and May simply ripped people off and take credits for others work.

  • Ummm ok so how would you support that claim? do you have either of those tracks because the one in this video is irrelevant to all of those.

  • As for the track on the "Techno 1" compilation you seemed to have the track name and artist mixed up as the name is simply "The force", and "Tranzistor" is simply the alias Saunderson and A.Forest went by to release that track.

The track on this release that we're listening to just so happens to have a track called "Tranzistor" but the artist is just "Kevin Saunderson".

  • Gah, I spelled it wrong both times.

  • Absolutely love this one! One of his best cheers for posting...

  • I like it, Pretty cool

  • Never heard this one back in the day, this is a sick track. Thank you for posting.

  • question? where is Detroit-techno public?

this music is beyond the time - but it seams your americans did not catch this music?

  • not all of us are naive to this kind of music.

  • I'm glad someone mentioned Art Forest...he doesn't get enough credit for his part in the history of Detroit Techno..the stuff on Express Records were the bomb!

  • ok, Listen up!!!

TRANZISTER is ARTHUR FOREST and KEVIN SAUNDERSON!

The other TRANZISTER track is called THE FORCE on TECHNO 1 LP - KMS RECORDS 1988...Also released on 12" on CLEAR VINYL in 1988

Cisco Farreira engineered this track on R&S RECORDS in 1989 called *HERE WE GO* Which is the REMIX to THE GROOVE THAT WONT STOP on KMS RECORDS...

This track is THE SOUND REMIX!!! and is 100% KEVIN SAUNDERSON and ARTHUR FOREST!

    Tam:)

  • First heard this played at the HACIENDA in MANCHESTER in 88 whilst suffocating in FOAM LMFAO! Foam n Strobe - what a combination!

One thing that was was apparent in the old raves were you didnt have two or three floors of different genres of music... House - Acid -Techno - Ambient, all thrown into the mix on ONE FLOOR!

That was one kick ass club let me tell you!

    Tough post mate!

    10/10*****

    Tam:)
