Huskies shed twice a year. Im not sure at what times. I use a normal dog brush with the little spines. Works just fine for me. It depends what you call noisy. They can be very talkative - howling etc. But otherwise you wouldn't know my husky was in the backyard. But every dog is different.

For those of you who are interested in adopting a husky or malamute please know that thier coats must be groomed everyday.

I rescued a malamute from severe neglect( and other stuff you do not want to know about) and her coat under the guard hairs was like a wool coat. SHe had NEVER been groomed. There is no shaving then because you cannot be sure how the coat will come back in. It took Me NO JOKE 2 months of brushing her everday one sections at a time ( so she would not stress),

Siberians have many variations - I used to have one identical to this. The best way of knowing is to look at the parents. And it's true - they will fluff out as they get older, but some more than others.

@crazyface1994 they come in three coat variations. 1: Long (for the show), 2. Thick and almost curly (the normal, for sled pullers and outdoor work), 3. Fine hair but still thick, (for the modern bred, smaller Sibes.)

When you go to get one from a breeder, ask to see the parents, and pictures of a few past litters, you'll be able to see what he/she will most likely become if they only have one strict breeding pair.

@crazyface1994 We have had three Husky's over the course of 35 years. If you don't like hair, don't get one. Our last was a "wooly" and was the softest of them all. But also the hairiest and to make matters worse, he hated to be brushed. But it didn't matter, we loved him for who he was and he loved us in return, even if we did suffer the occasional bite while trying to brush the underhair. A normal year would produce three extra large garbage bags of the softest white down.

That is a Husky, but when they reach a certain age they start to go fluffy, that is what makes them a husky. you dont want a wooley kind. they are they the ones that are really fluffy. but my Loki he doesn't get too fluffy until winter when her grows his undercoat. but i love him anyway

@crazyface1994 We have a Sibe as well. When you go to the breeders, take a look at the mother and if possible the father for a strong indication for how the litter will turn out. I think you might be confusing the Sibe with the Alaskan Malamute which tends to have a much longer coat. Good luck, they are a challenging but fun breed.

@Luis61589 Eh? I'm not entirely sure what you mean. But this is a pure bred dog, and if it's not it sure took on the traits of only one side of its genepool.

Pinto is just a colour/coat pattern. There is also a piebald colour, a mostly white husky with colour spots/patches, I believe that's the rarest of colouring though.

This is interesting to hear, as I'm looking for a husky but my partner finds them too scary looking with the big dark eyes. I'm not as fussed but I still prefer the eye-liner look considerably over the racoon ...

We thought we had to find a puppy without dark eyes but is this not the case? We both thought we'd seen lots of adult dogs with big dark eyes and we don't like them ... but could these have actually just been dogs a few months old or something that will still lose it?

if 400$ is too expensive.. consider rescues. there are plenty of great husky rescues with great dogs. they end up in rescues because people think they're regular dogs, and don't realize the hard work it takes to keeps this highly intelligent athlete happy and healthy. research lots before considering a sled dog.

i love my Siberian husky, he is a sweet, intelligent and loving dog. he give me lots of love when I come home from work.

I pay mine for $350, my neighbor had a siberian puppy for $250, they are all sold now.
